Spring flower sale

PARKERSBURG –The second annual Spring Flower Sale to benefit the Doug McLain Memorial Scholarship Fund will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at Third and Market streets in Parkersburg.

The cost is $15 per basket. The event is being done by Family/Friends of Doug McLain and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. Proceeds will help fund a scholarship this spring to a graduating senior going into the area of public service.



PARKERSBURG — A gift card bingo fundraiser for missions of the women at Parkersburg First Christian Church will be 6-8 p.m. today at the church at 1400 Washington Ave., Parkersburg.



PARKERSBURG– The Hand Bag Sale will be held 7 a.m.-4 p.m. today and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday in the Camden Clark Medical Center Auditorium.

The selection will be 30-60 percent off regular retail prices and will include brand name and designer handbags, briefcases, luggage, wallets, mini bags and leather goods. It is sponsored by the auxiliary.



PARKERSBURG — A meat loaf dinner will be 6 p.m. Friday at the Knights of Columbus at 1010 Market St., Parkersburg.

Dog Days in May

BELPRE — The annual Dog Days in May will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, 720 Clement Ave., Belpre.

There will be a Pet Costume Parade at noon, Pet Games, a Pet Rally Course, Best Tricks and Parade and Blessing of the Pets. There will also be vendors, nail trimming, a photographer and a collection site for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley. All cats and dogs are welcome.


Flower Sale

WILLIAMSTOWN — The Kiwanis of Williamstown will hold a Mother’s Day Flower Sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at Tomlinson Park on Highland Avenue.

A large variety of potted plants and hanging baskets of many types and colors of flowers will be available. For more information, call Susie Woodard at 304-850-4352.



PARKERSBURG — American Legion Post 15 will host an auction Sunday at 2505 Ohio Ave. in the traffic circle.

Doors open at 1 p.m. and the auction begins at 2 p.m. There will be general merchandise, blankets, tools, food and other items. There will also be raffles and drawings.


Spring concert

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg High School A Cappella Choir Spring Concert is 7 p.m. May 16 in the school auditorium.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is free.



LOWELL — A strip steak or chicken dinner will be 5-8 p.m. May 18 at American Legion Post 750 in Lowell.

Eat-in and carry-out are available. A youth group will be selling dessert.



BARLOW — The Friends of the Barlow Library will sponsor a music concert by Johnny Staats Trio at 7 p.m. May 17 at the Barlow Library, Ohio 339, Barlow.

The event is free and open to the public.



MARIETTA — The Mid-Ohio Valley Junior Players will hold auditions for “The Nifty Fifties” at 6 p.m. May 19-21 at Players Theatre, Third and Putnam streets, Marietta.

The auditions ar for ages 8-16. Please bring a summer schedule to show when you will be available.


Cairo Jamboree

CAIRO — The Cairo Jamboree will be May 18 at the Cairo Community Building.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 5:30 p.m. The Cairo T-Ball team will be selling concessions.


Strawberry Festival

MARIETTA — The annual strawberry festival fundraiser sponsored by the First Congregational Church, 318 Front St., is scheduled 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. May 19 at the church.

The menu is a sandwich, chips, drink and either strawberry or peach shortcake. A bake sale will be held.

Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children under 7.
