Parkersburg High School bringing ‘Carrie’ to the stage
PARKERSBURG — Parkersburg High School will be performing “Carrie: The Musical” tonight through Sunday in the PHS Auditorium.
Show times will be 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets will be available at the door for $8 for adults and $5 for students. The show is rated PG-13.
The show is based on the iconic 1974 novel by Stephen King.
It follows the story of teenager Carrie White (Ellie Yeater), a misfit who is tormented at school by her peers as well as at home by her unstable mother, Margaret (Daisy Lawrence). The show is a classic tale of bullying gone too far, and its themes resonate with anyone who has ever struggled to fit in and make the right choices.
The story is told from the perspective of Sue Snell (Abby Smith), a girl who tries to make amends for the way she and her friends have treated Carrie. Sue convinces her boyfriend Tommy (Caleb Clark) to take Carrie to the prom, unaware that two other students, Chris and Billy (Emily Kammerer and Garrett Colvin) have made horrifying plans of their own.
The cast includes Ellie Yeater as Carrie; Daisy Lawrence as Margaret; Abby Smith as Sue; Emily Kammerer as Chris; Mac Harvey as Miss Gardner; Ryann Province as Frieda; Emily Rexroad as Norma; Emi Fowler as Helen; Caleb Clark as Tommy; Garrett Colvin as Billy; Landen Stengel as Mr. Stephens/Male Posse; Phillip Essenmacher as George; Zane Lemley as Stokes; Simon Strobl as Freddy; female posse members Madison McHugh, Grace Hyde, Harper Lawrence and Kyla McLaughlin; and male posse members Zach Taylor, Dylan Khoury, Evan Collins and Matthew Lebo.
