Camden Clark Medical Center seeks student art for display

PARKERSBURG — WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center is asking area high school students to help decorate its hallway with art.

The hospital announced Friday it was seeking submissions from Mid-Ohio Valley students in grades 9-12. If selected, the artwork will be professionally framed and hung in the Medical Center on the second floor of the South Tower for up to a year and the artist will be honored at a reception. The artists also will receive their framed submissions at the end of the display period.

The deadline for entries is March 30 and there is no entry fee. The theme of the contest is “The Beauty of Nature.”

Artwork should be two-dimensional and no larger than 20-by-24 inches. Entries can be emailed to info@parkersburgartcenter.org as a good quality JPEG, PNG or TIFF image. The body of the email should include the student’s name, the title of the artwork, the size of the artwork, an email address and phone number, and the student’s school and grade level.

As part of the contest:

* The number of pieces selected for the exhibit will depend on the quality and size of submitted works.

* All works submitted for the competitions must be original works of art. No reproductions of copyrighted or other material will be accepted.

* Artwork needs to be two-dimensional and suitable for framing.

* Submissions may include photography, graphic design, collage, illustrations, printmaking, painting, mixed media and more.

* Each student may submit up to three works for consideration.

* There are no guarantees of exactly how long the pieces will be on display. It is possible that the images could be moved to another location within the medical center.
