King’s Brass to perform at Fellowship Baptist Church

VIENNA — Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass will be appearing in concert at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3300 Rosemar Road in Vienna.

Tim Zimmerman and The King’s Brass presents hymn classics with a contemporary flair. The King’s Brass features three trumpets, three trombones, a tuba, percussion and keyboards. These instruments blend to create a time of innovative worship that will be enjoyed by all generations, according to a news release.

Secular and sacred music critics alike applaud their concerts as “superb in every way” and “innovative and well played.” “Truly, an unforgettable experience!”

The King’s Brass, formed four decades ago, is comprised of professional musicians from across the country, who desire to use the instruments they love to lead others in praise and worship.

Tim Zimmerman, the director of The King’s Brass, received his graduate degree in Trumpet Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University, in Baltimore, Maryland. He has been a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and has assisted with orchestras in the Midwest and East Coast.

For 13 years, Zimmerman served as chairman of the Music Department at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. He has also taught at Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan universities in central Indiana. Zimmerman and his wife, Beckie, have four grown children and live in Fort Myers, Florida.

The other eight members of The King’s Brass have extensive performance experience as well as graduate degrees from Carnegie Mellon University Eastman School of Music, University of Hartford’s Hartt School of Music, and Julliard School of Music.

The group plays over 150 concerts a year from coast to coast as well as international destinations. This year, The King’s Brass celebrates its 40th Anniversary Season with a new Christmas CD and a Caribbean Cruise in March 2019.

The King’s Brass’ 18th recording is titled Christmas JOY. This CD, released on the Summit Records label (summitrecords.com), welcomes guest organist Samuel Metzger. Selections include Good Christian Men, Rejoice; Nutcracker — Dance of the Sugar Plums; What Child Is This?; The Little Drummer Boy; Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer; Hark! the Herald Angels Sing; Carol of The Bells; Christmas Time Is Here; Joy to the World!; and many more.
