VIENNA — The FOR Club of Jackson Middle School passed out $2,000 in gasoline and food gift cards across Wood County on Saturday.

The recipients of this kindness were not friends or family of the students.

The gifts were for anyone needing some Christmas cheer.

The Vienna students raised the money at their craft fair held at the school recently. The FOR Club members hope to start a chain reaction of kindness with their efforts.

FOR stands for Friends of Rachel. The Wood County school club was formed in honor of Rachel Joy Scott, who was the first victim of the Columbine School shootings in Colorado.

About 40 local crafters and vendors were at the craft fair, with the club raising $2,000 to give back to the community, said teacher Cherish George, one of the club’s leaders.

The FOR Club is not keeping any of its earnings.

“Everything that we do to raise money is given back in the form of kindness toward others. Our hopes is that our kindness will start a chain reaction of kindness just as Rachel Joy Scott had hoped,” said George.

“Our hope is that when the gift cards are found, that they encourage others to be kind in return,” George said.
