Downtown PKB director resigns; takes on new leadership role
PARKERSBURG — The executive director of Downtown PKB, Wendy Shriver, has resigned after seven years in order to take on a new role as the executive director of the upcoming Discovery World on Market.
“I’m honored to be selected as the executive director of Discovery World on Market and look forward to being a part of what this investment will bring to the community and downtown,” Shriver said in a statement Wednesday in announcing her departure from Downtown PKB.
Discovery World on Market is a museum that is set to be located in the former Masonic Lodge Temple downtown and will have 30,000 feet of interactive exhibits designed to engage children and their families. The museum is tentatively set to open in late 2022.
“I’m excited to have Wendy as our first Executive Director of Discovery World on Market,” said Tres Ross in a statement Wednesday.
Ross is the executive director of The Ross Foundation and the lead investor for the facility.
“From the early stages in planning for a children’s museum to where we are now in having plans in place for the exhibits and building, it’s exciting to have our initial staff member on board. We know Wendy will do a great job in leading our organization,” he said.
Shriver will assume her duties at the end of August and will continue to serve on Downtown PKB’s Board of Directors, according to the statement.
“It’s very bittersweet,” Shriver said. “I’ve loved my time here and I’ve loved how much our organization (Downtown PKB) has grown, and I look forward to seeing how it continues to grow.”
