The program developed by WVU Medicine Camden Clark and facilitated by Nancy Brooks, MHSA, RN provides training focused on the basics of leadership. Curriculum includes gaining self-knowledge by completing assessments, a broader view of healthcare operations of local, system, global and regulatory platforms and leadership theory.
“This is a terrific accomplishment by this dedicated team of physicians,” said Walter Kerschl, MD, FACP MMM, chief medical officer at Camden Clark. “One of the best outcomes of the physician leadership academy is for doctors to learn more about themselves. Self-reflection is a key part of effective leadership. Participants also gain a broader view of healthcare.
“With understanding various perspectives, they enhance their influence to lead change processes and strategically collaborate decisions based on the organization’s mission, vision and values. I greatly appreciate the skill sets of Nancy Brooks in her role managing this effort,” he said.
