Hino Motors halting production until October
PARKERSBURG — Hino Motors Manufacturing has halted vehicle production in its North American plants until the end of September 2021, according to a press release from the company on Wednesday.
Among the plants being impacted are the Woodstock Plant located in Canada and the West Virginia Plant located in Mineral Wells, according to the statement.
The reason for halting production was due to “following challenges in the required U.S. engine certification testing process for new model years of the AO9C, J08E, and J05E* engines for North America,” as stated in the release.
According to the release, new model year vehicle sales have now been postponed, and Hino Motors is expected to resume production in October 2021.
The release further states that Hino Motors is investigating the impact of this pause on their earnings and updates will be forthcoming.
