Sisterville Ferry to offer private cruises
SISTERSVILLE — For the first time, the Sistersville Ferry is offering October cruises for anyone wishing to book a private event.
Normally the ferry season ends at the end of September but pilot Bo Hause said they decided to offer the private cruises as an opportunity to bring in more revenue.
He said once kids go back to school, business slows down but he hopes that by offering cruises, it will be a boost for them.
“The cruises are helping to bring in the revenue to make up for the slow days that we have,” Hause said.
The cruises can be booked for any day of the week and any time. Hause recommends booking as early as possible since the weekends are starting to fill up. So far they have 10 bookings for October, he said.
If successful, the fall cruises may continue in the future. The ferry can be booked for any kind of event or party or just for a scenic look at the fall foliage.
“This is a great opportunity to experience the fall beauty of West Virginia and Ohio while navigating north or south on the Ohio River. The scenery is gorgeous,” he said.
The ferry was able to open for the 2020 season after its closure last year. So far, Hause said the season has been fairly busy and he’s thankful for the people who have taken rides.
“Even though we have a slow start this summer because of the virus, we appreciate the support we have had during this short season,” he said.
The ferry can be booked for any length of time and cruises will begin or end in Sistersville or Fly, Ohio. To book a cruise, contact Bo Hause at 304-482-4954.
