Supervisor at Belleville Hydroelectric Plant receives award
BELLEVILLE — A supervisor at the Belleville Hydroelectric Plant has received the American Municipal Power 2020 DNA Award.
Anthony (Tony) Belcher of Marietta is the operations and maintenance supervisor at the plant and joined AMP in 1998 as a member of the original crew that commissioned the Belleville Hydroelectric Plant and was promoted to his current position in 2012. He also served four years in the U.S. Navy as a gas turbine systems technician.
“Tony is a very dedicated employee who is highly focused on serving our members and helping to drive integrity, cooperation and the highest standards of safety,” Jolene Thompson, AMP president and CEO, said. “He truly exemplifies AMP’s core values and we are proud to have him as a member of the AMP team.”
The award, sponsored by AMP’s president and CEO, began in 2008 to recognize an employee who advances AMP’s vision and mission “to be public power’s leader in wholesale energy supply and value-added Member services,” and “to provide Members with the benefits of scale and expertise in providing and managing energy services,” respectfully.
Nominations for the award are submitted by staff.
During the awards presentation, Thompson said nominations from Belcher’s colleagues show he exemplifies all of the organization’s core values. His peers emphasized he goes above and beyond what is required in his role, is extremely dedicated to the organization, and regularly offers creative and innovative solutions to problems, while always keeping the safety of the team and the plant at the forefront of his decisions.
