Smoot Theatre, Parkersburg museum receive pandemic funding

PARKERSBURG — The Smoot Theatre and the Oil, Gas and Industrial Historical Association in Parkersburg have received pandemic relief funds through the federal C.A.R.E.S. Act, from the West Virginia Humanities Council.

The Smoot received $5,000 and the association received $10,000.

The Humanities Council, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, has provided over $420,000 in Emergency Relief Grants to cultural groups for staff retention and program delivery during the pandemic. The grants will help pay staff salaries, utility bills, mortgage and rent and other operational costs.

Also receiving funds was Glenville State College.
