LUBECK — Williamstown Bank held its official grand opening ceremony for the Lubeck branch Wednesday morning.

Opening day was Jan. 27 but the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley held its ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday.

Megan Hardway, marketing and business specialist, said so far members of the community have stopped in to get more information about the bank.

“Area businesses have stopped by and sought out information. It’s been a nice turnout. I think after the grand opening, we’ll see more folks that know we’re officially open now,” Hardway said.

Hardway said the Lubeck location was another way for the bank to grow and focus on the Parkersburg area.

Invited guests had the opportunity to sample the coffee and pastries available through The Giving Cup, Williamstown Bank’s donation-based coffee shop.

Each quarter, different charities are selected to receive those donations. Currently those organizations are Lubeck Elementary, the Lubeck area fire departments and the Children’s Home Society of West Virginia.

Instead of paying in the traditional sense, patrons choose the amount they want to donate and as a thank you, they receive the beverages or pastries of their choice.

A few signature drinks are available: the Million Bucks drink is essentially like a frozen peanut butter cup. The Benjamin is a frozen or iced Mocha with caramel.

“We want to be sure we are letting the community know we are supporting them 100 percent and that we’re here in the community and we’re here to help,” Hardway said.

Sharon Anderson, senior vice president, spoke to the group and talked about the bank’s vision for community banking.

Anderson said since the Lubeck area was left without a financial institution several years ago, they felt it was the perfect opportunity to come in.

“We wanted to do something different to show that we truly are investing in the community here; we truly are part of the Lubeck community,” Anderson said. “That’s what community banks do.”

The new location will not only serve as a bank but a gathering space. With an open concept, it provides customers with a space to drink coffee, use their Wi-Fi or utilize available conference rooms. Picnic tables will be installed once the weather warms up.

“We want it to be a community space and we want it to be that so you can see we’re here to stay. We’re not going anywhere; we’re not going to abandon Lubeck and this community,” Anderson said. “It’s our passion to meet the needs of the community, both your banking needs and needs that we feel that we can meet outside of that.”

The Lubeck branch is located at 1605 Harris Highway in Parkersburg. The lobby is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. For the drive through, a teller is available for assistance Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Self-service in the drive through is open 24 hours a day.
