Battle joins United Bankshares Inc. West Virginia Board
PARKERSBURG — H. Dill Battle III has been appointed to the United Bankshares Inc. West Virginia Board.
An attorney, Battle is a member at Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, and chair of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group.
United Bankshares is a $19.6 billion regional financial services company and the largest publicly traded company headquartered in West Virginia.

In addition to workers’ compensation, Battle’s primary areas of practice are employment relations and counseling, and commercial litigation.
Battle is a Fellow and member of the Board of Governors of the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, serves on the board of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network and holds an AV Pre-eminent Peer Review Rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell. He was nominated by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Workers’ Compensation Law-Employers.
He earned his bachelor’s from the University of Virginia and his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law.
Active in statewide and Charleston-based community initiatives, Battle is the vice president and a former president of the HospiceCare Board of Directors, past president of the Rotary Club of Charleston and a former assistant district governor of Rotary International District 7550. Battle also serves on the Gordon and Mildred Jackson Foundation Grant Committee, the Jefferson Scholars Regional Selection Committee and is a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
Battle and his wife, Emily, have two children, George and Julia.

In 2018, United announced record earnings of $256.3 million, or $2.45 per diluted share, as compared to earnings of $150.6 million, or $1.54 per diluted share, for the year of 2017. United declared a dividend of 34 cents per share, which represented the 45th consecutive year of dividend increases to its shareholders.
