United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley honors BB&T
PARKERSBURG –BB&T has been recognized as the Corporate Partner of the Year by the United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley.
The bank was recognized at the annual Community Leaders Breakfast.
“BB&T has lead by example in every way as a Corporate Community Partner,” said Stacy DeCicco, executive director of United Way Alliance. “From the top down, their leadership understands the value of United Way in the community and has provided support and collaboration at every level possible.”
In the last year BB&T helped to launch the Corporate Sponsorship Program and signed on as a partner in the inaugural year.
“The Corporate Sponsorship Program is separate from a corporate gift, which BB&T also provided through its foundation,” DeCicco said. “The Corporate Sponsor Program provides us with fundraising dollars. It helps to sponsor some of the necessary efforts and costs of running a campaign: events, brochures, mailings, etc.”
The Corporate Sponsors represent business leaders in the community who understand and recognize the costs to minimize the use of donor dollars to support the efforts, DeCicco said.
Beyond running a workplace giving campaign, BB&T also provided support to help launch the Small Business 365 Program, which gives small business owners an avenue for philanthropic giving that they might have been excluded from previously. BB&T was a ready participant to provide matching funds to increase the impact of the giving in its first year.
Todd Nestor, BB&T market president and senior vice president, is a member of the United Way Board of Directors and has brought his previous experience with United Way in larger markets.
“Every facet of our relationship with BB&T and Todd Nestor has been fantastic. We truly appreciate relationships like this in our community, it makes all the difference as we tackle the critical issues” said DeCicco. “BB&T is an inspiring example of how corporate partners are working with United Way to change lives.”
