Business Expo to be held April 25

BELPRE – The Business Expo, a collaboration of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and the Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held 4-7 p.m. April 25 at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Porterfield.

While companies are expanding into new markets, physically and through social media, it still comes down to one-to-one, face-to-face contact like that to be provided at the Business Expo, Karen Waller, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, said.

“There’s a strength in that,” Waller said.

Exhibit spaces remain available, said Amy Hupp, marketing manager and organizer prime of the Business Expo. She can be reached at 304 485-1891, ext. 345.

The purpose of the expo is two-fold, Hupp said. It exposes businesses to other businesses and the services they provide, and it is a venue for companies to showcase their products and services directly to the consumer, she said.

“This increases the interaction between the business and the community,” Hupp said.

Commerce has undergone a revolution where boundaries of regional or municipal perceptions no longer matter, according to Waller.

“We have quite a business community here,” Waller said.

About a quarter of the membership in the Belpre chamber are businesses which are located elsewhere, she said. That’s a sizable number, Waller said.

“We are pretty mobile consumers anymore,” Waller said.

Admission to the expo is $1. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a charity to be determined in Belpre, Hupp said.

Door prizes will be awarded, Hupp said.

“We even have a free vacation,” Hupp said.

The winner can choose from among several hundred destinations, Hupp said.

Waller is appreciative of the newspaper’s organization of the expo.

“The News and Sentinel has been invaluable with its expertise and leg work,” Waller said.
