Stonewall, CVB receive marketing awards

MARIETTA – The Stonewall Group and the Greater Parkersburg Convention and Visitors Bureau have received a Travel Weekly Gold Magellan Award, the highest honor, for the design and production of the 2015 Greater Parkersburg CVB Visitors Guide.

Travel Weekly is the nation’s premier trade news publication, Kari Pigg, Stonewall Group vice president/director of public relations, said.

“We completely overhauled the 2015 visitors guide. We created a fresh design that reflects Greater Parkersburg’s rich history and outdoor recreation, and packaged it within a unique, new horizontal size,” Pigg said. “The guide stands out among other destination brochures. We couldn’t be more pleased with the results and recognition.”

The Magellan Awards honor the best in travel design, marketing and services. Entries were accepted from across the county and world.

The awards honor a range of industry segments including hotels and resorts, travel destinations, cruise lines, online travel services, airlines, and airports, and tour operators.

The 68-page 9-by-6 inch full-color guide contains key information about Parkersburg and environs. The free guide features listings of area attractions, accommodations, shops, special events, restaurants, meeting sites, visitor services and updated full-color maps.

The guide is used in direct mail campaigns, West Virginia Welcome Centers and other outlets, leisure travel shows, local brochure racks and conferences and other groups meeting in the area.

The visitors guide is the primary piece used by the CVB to fulfill information requests from their 800 number and website, bulk requests, direct mailings and reader responses to advertisements. It is also the only local visitors guide distributed through the West Virginia Welcome Center in Williamstown.

Stonewall Group designed the piece and Chapman Printing of Parkersburg printed the guide. The cover image and numerous other images featured in the guide were taken by area photographer Jim Osborn.
