November 1, 2015, James William Rhodes will celebrate his 100th birthday. He was born in Jackson County, W.Va., one of nine children of Roma Claire and Prudence Pearl Rhodes. After moving to Wood County he met and married Garnet Stephens on November 1, 1935. They have three children, Don Rhodes, Sharon Rhodes Deem and Jim Rhodes. They have eight grandchildren and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
William worked at Stork Bakery and Viscose until their closing, at which time he retired.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and travel/camping. After Garnet moved to Ohio Valley Health Care, William drove his tractor to visit her every day.
