Willis C. Border of Davisville celebrated his 94th birthday on Sept. 17 with family.

The World War II Marine veteran and retiree from the DuPont Washington Works spent the afternoon with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other members of the family.

He was born in Ritchie County on Sept. 22, 1923, a son of the late John and Isabelle (Middleton) Border. He is the brother of Loyd of Davisville. He was married to Helen Hill Border for 66 years before her passing in 2015.

They are the parents of one son, the late pharmacist and Delegate Larry Border of Wood County, and a daughter, the late Charlene Border.

Those marking his birthday with him were the families of grandchildren Chris (Naddine) Border and Rebecca Border (Brad) Dimit, including five of his eight great-grandchildren.

His other grandchild is Heather Border (Scott) Mullens, of Cary, N.C. She and her family, including his other three great-grandchildren, were unable to attend.

Others in attendance were Anna Border Sheppard and her husband, Roger; Anna’s mother, Josephine Silman; and Roger’s mother, Betty Sheppard.
