Ruf

Phyllis Alton Ruf celebrated her 90th birthday on June 17 with an open house at her home in West Chester, Ohio, where she was surrounded by her family and friends.

She was born on June 16, 1927, in Parkersburg, the oldest daughter of Newton and Mary Ella Hill Alton. She was married for 53 years to Henry L. “Bud” Ruf Jr., who died in 2003.

She is the mother of Louis Ruf of West Chester, Sarah Leon of Sharonville, Ohio, Stuart Ruf of Madison, Ohio, James Ruf of Pine, Ariz., and Eric Ruf of Belington, W.Va. She is the grandmother of Evan Leon, Mary Leon, Alycia Schreckengost, Emma Ruf, Erynn Ruf, Jesse Ruf and Anna Ruf. She is the stepgrandmother of Diane O’Donnell and Chuck Blankenship.

She is a native and longtime resident of Parkersburg now making her home in West Chester since 2014. She is a member of Crestview Presbyterian Church in West Chester, where she still sings in the choir.

She was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian in Parkersburg, and a 30-year member of the Parkersburg Choral Society. She is a member of the James Wood Chapter, NSDAR. She retired from Legg Mason at the age of 80.
