Boil water advisory issues for section of Parkersburg

From staff reports

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Public Utility Board has issued a boil waver advisory due to a main line water leak on Third Street in downtown Parkersburg.

The advisory was issued shortly before 12:30 p.m. today and affects Ann Street to Green Street and First Street to Fourth Street in downtown Parkersburg.

“A 12-inch main water line ruptured on Third Street near Ann Street. Although the line was repaired under pressure, conditions at the site allowed the pressure to drop and resulted in discolored water from mineral deposits in the mains,” according to the PUB news release. “The leak has been repaired and the area has been flushed. Samples are being collected from locations within the affected area.”

Officials will provide notification once the results of the tests are received. Until then residents should boil their water thoroughly and allow it to cool before consuming or using it to prepare food or for hygiene, such as brushing your teeth. Residents may also opt to use bottled water until the advisory is lifted.

PUB will provide notification once the results of the tests are received.
