Callaway Jr. Golf Tour hits Greenhills Country Club

RAVENSWOOD — Weather was a constant theme during the Callaway Junior Tour event, as the 9 a.m. tee-time was delayed until 11 a.m. due to constant rain Wednesday morning at the Greenhills Country Club in Ravenswood.

Due to the standing water on the course caused by the rain, it made hitting routine shots more difficult, causing problems for those participating in the event.

Nicole Lincicome of Vienna was one of those that experienced problems on the front nine, but she was able to overcome the rough start, picking up birdies on holes 13, 15 and 16. That strong back nine finish helped Lincicome place second in the girls 15-18 girls division, with a score of 13-over par 85.

This was Lincicome’s second straight runner-up finish at a Callaway Junior event, placing second at the Sleepy Hollow Golf Club on Monday in Hurricane.

Lexis Fickel of Logan, Ohio, won with a 5-over 77 and also won the girls low round of the day.

Vienna’s Molly McLean was fourth with a 21-over par 93 and Faith Yoho of New Martinsville finished eighth with a 141.

The winner of the girls 10-14 event was Jerri-Anne Cook of Oceana with a 10-over par 82 and Spencer’s Emerson Simons finished second. The winner of the boys 15-18 division and the Tri-State Roofing and Sheet Metal boys low round was Todd Duncan of Daniels. Duncan shot a 1-over par 73.

Alex Parker of New Martinsville tied with three others for seventh.

Parker shot a 15-over par 87 and made back-to-back birdies on holes 16 and 17.

Pennsboro’s Anthony Rader (+18, 90), Mineral Wells’ Blake Snyder (+19, 91), Spencer’s Garrett Simon (+21, 93), Little Hocking’s Chance Weihl (+21, 93), Parkersburg’s Mace Busch (+22, 94), Jacob Smeeks (+24, 96) and St. Marys’ Grant Barnhart (+25, 97) and Brandon Lawhorn (+29, 101) finished top-20.

Beverly’s Chatum Courson finished second in the boys 12-and-under group with a 22-over par 94. He made par on six holes. Grant Roush of Mason won the group with a 14-over par 86 and made a birdie on No. 8.

Benjamin Marsh from Summersville won the boys 13-14 event, with Marietta’s Liam Ritter finishing fourth with a score of 27-over par 99.

Followed by Williamstown’s William Barniak (5th), Waterford’s Ryan Hendershot (6th) and Gavin Brooker (7th), Parkersburg’s Joseph Koreski (8th) and Little Hocking’s Cole Hungate and Vienna’s Ethan Metz tied for 10th. Rounding out the rest of the field was Kaleb Tanner (11th) and Michael Dugan (13th) from Mineral Wells and Little Hocking’s Edward Kehl finished 12th.

Winner of the boys 17-18 event was Joseph Lalaskey from South Charleston. He shot a 2-over par 74.

The CJT continues with a 9 a.m. shotgun start today at Riverside Golf Club in Mason.
