Parkersburg South 61 (OT)
INSTITUTE– Parkersburg South was able to take fourth-ranked Hurricane to overtime, but the Redskins pulled away with a 65-61 win in The Little General Shootout at the Big House Wednesday.
Jake Dennis was the leading scorer for the Patriots with 19, as Malaki Sylvia finished with a double-double for the Patriots with an 18-point, 14-rebound game. Seth Fallon was two points away from a double-double, finishing with 10 assists.
The leading scorer for the Redskins was Jordan Nicely’s 19 points. Joe Muto (17), Austin Dearing (15) and Austin Womack (13) rounded out the double figure scorers for Hurricane.
Calhoun County 54,
Gilmer County 41
GLENVILLE — Trevor Carder poured in a game-high 28 points to help Calhoun County defeat Gilmer County 54-41 Wednesday.
Carder also finished with eight rebounds and six assists in the game. The Red Devils (4-12) led by just three, 25-22, at halftime before outscoring the Titans 16-9 in the third quarter to build some cushion.
Nick Moore added 13 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks for Calhoun while Adam Parsons chipped in nine points.
Gilmer was paced by Jagger Furr and Brady Fitzwater, who tallied eight points apiece.
The win gave Calhoun County its first sweep over Gilmer County in head coach Danny Bunch’s 11-year tenure.
Braxton County 79,
Doddridge County 71
WEST UNION — Jadyn Stewart couldn’t be stopped, going off for 36 points to help Braxton County defeat Doddridge County 79-71 Wednesday.
Blake Withrow added 15 points for the visitors, who held a 43-31 lead at halftime.
Doddridge (4-14) got 19 points from Collin Bunting, 18 from Connor Cunningham and 11 apiece from Noah Bumgardner and Griffin Devericks. Cunningham added 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks while Devericks registered seven dimes and three swipes.
The Bulldogs play East Hardy at 7 p.m. Friday at Salem International in a WVHIT contest.
Greenbrier West 45
INSTITUTE — Bethany Arnold double-doubled with 15 points and 14 rebounds here Wednesday as Williamstown raced past Greenbrier West, 73-45, in The Little General Shootout at the Big House.
The Yellowjackets (14-4) also got 11 markers from Kayli Sauro, 10 points from Mara Rinehart along with nine markers and six steals from Izzy Erb. Lakyn Joy chipped in seven counters for WHS, which also received six points and four assists from Nicole Reynolds.
Julie Agee was Greenbrier West’s leader with 17 points.
River View 68,
WARSAW, Ohio– Hannah Kroft and Jennifer Smith both finished with 12 points, but Marietta fell to River View 68-44 Wednesday.
Half of Smith’s total came from 3, while Morgan Altenburger had seven markers.
Waterford 43, Miller 12
WATERFORD, Ohio– Rachael Adams connected with three from deep, finishing with 18 points and four assists as Waterford defeated Miller 43-12 Wednesday.
Emily Kern chipped in with nine points and Riley Schweikert came away with four points and four swipes. Waterford outscored Miller in every quarter, taking a 25-9 score into halftime.
