South Charleston 62, Parkersburg South 61

SOUTH CHARLESTON– Double-doubles by Parkersburg South’s Malaki Sylvia (28 points, 11 rebounds) and Brayden Mooney (10 points, 10 boards) weren’t quite enough here Saturday night as South Charleston escaped with a 62-61 win thanks to Shazun Cunningham’s game-winning bucket with 6 seconds left.

Seth Fallon dished out nine assists and hit three 3s to tally nine markers for the Patriots (5-7).

Jayden Johnson’s 16 points paced the Black Eagles (6-6), who also got a baker’s dozen from Bradley Jones and a dozen by Cunningham.

Parkersburg Catholic 70, Wirt County 46

ELIZABETH — Cade Ullman led all scorers with 21 points as Parkersburg Catholic defeated Wirt County 70-46 Saturday.

The game was tied at 11-all after a quarter, but the Crusaders (9-5) outscored the Tigers (9-8) 22-12 in the second quarter to take control of the game.

Ty Sturm complemented Ullman with 12 points while Pat Copen and Jeb Boice added 10 apiece.

Kyler Carper led the Tigers, who visit Williamstown Thursday, with 15 points. Hunter Hickman added 11 and Justin Windland chipped in nine.

Ritchie County 76,

Paden City 64

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Ethan Cross’ game-high 20 points weren’t enough for Paden City here Saturday night as the Wildcats were upended by Ritchie County, 76-64, in the Rotary Challenge.

Adam Davis had 15 points and seven rebounds while Gabe Murphy contributed 12 markers and seven caroms for the 4-11 Rebels, who play host Tuesday to Parkersburg Catholic. RCHS also got 15 points from Joey James, 12 from Dakota Wayne as well as nine counters and five assists from Clayton Bee. Graden McKinney had seven points and five steals in the triumph while Rebel teammate Billy Butcher also had seven boards.

Paden City, also 4-11, got 15 points from Matt Saxon and a baker’s dozen by Trey Slider.

Hundred 67, Calhoun 59

HUNDRED — Playing with ill players and also missing starters Nick Moore and Levi Walker, visiting Calhoun County ran out of gas in the fourth quarter here Saturday afternoon as Hundred rallied for a 67-59 WVHIT victory.

Trevor Carder poured in a game-high 23 points for the 3-11 Red Devils, but the Hornets improved to 6-6 thanks to a 26-15 fourth quarter effort.

HHS was led by Travis McCoy’s 20 points. Logan Norris (16), Cody Soles (13) and Andrew Zedell (10) also tallied double figures.

Calhoun County also got 13 tallies from Hayden Richards and 11 markers from Adam Parsons.

Athens 70,

Wood County Christian 48

THE PLAINS, Ohio — Sam Cremeans scored 19 points, but Wood County Christian couldn’t keep up with host Athens in a 70-48 loss Saturday.

Trey Davis added eight points, four assists and two steals for the 8-9 Wildcats, who play host to East Richland Christian Tuesday.

Logan Maxfield scored a game-high 20 points for the Bulldogs (13-4). Eli Chubb and Brayden Markins added 11 points apiece.

Warren 53,

Gallia Academy 35

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio — Warren High took down Gallia Academy 53-35 Saturday night.

The Warriors (11-4) got 14 points form Noah Nichols plus 11 each from Clay Miller and Seth Dennis. They’re back in action Tuesday at John Glenn.

The Blue Devils (8-5) got 11 points apiece from Justin McClelland and Logan Delour.

Shenandoah 58, Miller 29

CORNING, Ohio — Nickolai Wickham went off for a career-high 33 points as Shenandoah rolled host Miller here Saturday night, 58-29.

The 15-3 Zeps, who play Friday at St. John Central, also received a 13-point effort from Christian Duniver.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Calhoun County 56, South Harrison 37

MT. ZION — Kaylin Parsons and Savannah Cunningham both scored 16 points, as 8-9 Calhoun County hardly broke a sweat, defeating South Harrison 56-37 for a WVHIT win Saturday.

Josie Montgomery added 15 points while teammate Parsons had a double-double thanks to 24 rebounds.

Ember Smith led the Hawks (0-17) with 15 points.

Beallsville 64, Paden City 38

NEW MARTINSVILLE–Beallsville used a 16-point lead after the first to run away with a 64-38 win over Paden City during the Rotary Classic at Magnolia Saturday.

Hannah Loy led PCHS (4-10) with 23 points.

Beallsville’s Ashlie Louden made five 3s, finishing with a 16-point game. Jayden Gabel had 14.

St. Marys 47, Tolsia 37

FORT GAY — Addie Furr led all scorers with 25 points as St. Marys defeated Tolsia 47-37 Saturday in a WVHIT game.

Kylie Wright added 13 points for the Blue Devils (8-8).

Sarah Jude led top-seeded Tolsia (11-4) with 14 points.

Alexander 47, Warren 38

ALBANY, Ohio — Warren was tied 17-all after one here Saturday night against now 16-2 Alexander, but the hosts used a combined 26-10 advantage in the second and fourth quarters to post a 47-38 victory.

Warren (9-6) was led by Molly Grayson’s 11 points. Savannah Banks and Caspen Ford had six tallies apiece.

The Spartans were paced by McKenna Rice’s game-high 17-point effort.
