Belpre 65, South Gallia 48

CROWN CITY, Ohio — Belpre jumped out to a 41-22 halftime lead and evened its record at 1-1 following a 65-48 road win Thursday at South Gallia.

The Golden Eagles used a balanced scoring attack in the victory, getting 14 points from Kyna Waderker, a dozen markers by Kaitlin Richards, 11 counters from Sydney Spencer and eight tallies by Kirsten Giffin.

Kylie Stapleton led the Rebels (0-2) with a game-high 22 points.

South Charleston 66, Ravenswood 21

SOUTH CHARLESTON — Myra Cuffee finished with a game-high 18 points as South Charleston bolted out to a 29-3 advantage after one quarter Thursday en route to a 66-21 triumph.

Shelby Howard and Skyler Varney, who had four boards, led the Red Devils with five markers apiece. Lindsay Carroll also had four points and as many caroms in the setback. Kiera Curtis led RHS with five rebounds.

Waterford 58, Trimble 44

GLOUSTER — Fresh off four straight trip to the state tournament, Waterford High won its season opener 58-44 over Trimble Thursday night.

The Wildcats were led by Rachael Adams’ 15 points and eight steals. Cara Taylor added 13 points and six steals, while Riley Schweikert chipped in 11 points and five rebounds. Emily Kern tallied nine points and Maggie Huffman produced a team-high three assists.

Waterford shot 39.3 percent (24 for 61) from the floor. The Wildcats led 33-25 at halftime.
