Glenville State 122,

West Liberty 105

WEST LIBERTY — Emily Stoller drained 18 of 26 field goals and erupted for a career-high 44 points here Saturday afternoon to help lead Glenville State to a 122-105 triumph against host West Liberty in the Mountain East Conference opener for both squads.

GSC (4-0, 1-0), which led 58-57 at intermission, took control with a 35-21 edge in the third quarter.

Re-Shawna Stone pitched in 25 points and had five assists for the Pioneers, who got a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 15 caroms from Courtney Davis. Donasja Scott contributed 10 points in the victory.

WLU (2-2, 0-1) was led by Marissa Brown’s 34 points and 14 rebounds.

Southern Illinois 58,

Marshall 49

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Nicole Martin had a game-high 17 points to help pace Southern Illinois to a 58-49 victory against visiting Marshall here Saturday.

The 0-3 Thundering Herd missed 18 of 21 attempts from 3 and received 10 markers apiece from Taylor Pearson and Kristen Mayo.

SIU (2-1) finished with four players reaching double figures in scoring and that included a double-double of 10 points and as many boards from Abby Brockmeyer.

Marietta College 76, Washington and

Jefferson 63

WASHINGTON, Pa. — The Marietta College women’s basketball team was victorious over Washington and Jefferson College, 76-63, Saturday in the championship game of the Washington and Jefferson Tip-off Tournament.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the season.

Alexis Enochs was named Washington and Jefferson Tip-off Tournament MVP and Shay Lett was named All-Tournament Team for Marietta.

Marietta was led by Bailee Brooks as she led all scorers with a career-high 21 points. Enochs added 16 points, and five rebounds in the game for the Pioneers. Shay Lett pitched in with 14 points and a career-high in assists with seven. Corrie Burkhardt led the Pioneers seven rebounds.

Marietta will return to the court Saturday when it hosts Hiram College in the 34th annual Jim Meagle Turkey Shoot.

MEN

#2 West Liberty 158, Glenville State 106

WEST LIBERTY — Kalin Johnson poured in 29 points, Howard Smith had 19 and Darhius Nunn chipped in 13 markers with a game-high nine assists, but it wasn’t nearly enough for visiting Glenville State here Saturday as No. 2 West Liberty rolled to a 158-106 triumph in the Mountain East Conference opener for both programs.

WLU (3-1, 1-0) shot 62.7 percent (64 of 102) from the field and drained 22 of 41 from downtown (53.7 percent).

Dalton Bolon dropped in a game-high 31 points for WLU, which had eight players crack double figures. Marlon Moore Jr. double-doubled with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench while Tyler Primmer added 22 markers off the pine.

The G-men (3-1, 0-1) also received a baker’s dozen counters from Jamal Pollydore while Davion Johnson added 12 points.
