Ursuline 97, Ohio Valley 66
VIENNA — Amaiya Melvins’ 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists weren’t enough Saturday as Ohio Valley fell to visiting Ursuline 97-66.
Ursuline (6-3) was led by Laney Lewis’ 20 points and 12 rebounds. Camryn Hill added 18 points, Morgan Mattimore tallied 16, Carly Koncz netted 12 and Ky Crevison registered 11.
The Fighting Scots (0-6) got 15 points from Jordan Fox and 12 from Alyssa Murray.
Ursuline shot an even 50 percent (36 for 72) and outrebounded OVU 43-30.
Glenville State 107,
GLENVILLE — Kristin DesRocher knocked down five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to lead Glenville State to a 107-77 victory over UVA-Wise.
Paris McLeod added 19 points and five steals for the Pioneers (8-1), while Bhrea Griffin tallied 15 points and Taylor Parker netted 14 points and four steals. Courtney Davis chipped in 10 markers and nine rebounds.
Hanna Oliver paced UVA-Wise (1-5) with 17 points. Dakotah Turner added 12 and Alle Moore scored 10.
Marietta College 73,
John Carroll 62
UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio — The No. 24 ranked Marietta College women’s basketball team stayed perfect on the season with a 73-62 win at John Carroll University Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers are 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. John Carroll slips to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the OAC.
Amisha Herd scored 15 points and had four assists and five steals. Corrie Burkhardt recorded her second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Marlo Taylor chipped in with a career-high 10 points.
Chelbi Graham and Nicole Heffington each had double-doubles for JCU. Graham finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Heffington had 15 points and 10 boards. Dani Carlson added 11 points.
Glenville State 65
GLENVILLE — Michael Seals finished with 17 points, 10 assists, six rebounds and four steals to lead UVA-Wise to an 82-65 win over Glenville State Saturday.
Glenville dropped to 0-9 on the year despite 19 points from Elisha Mayberry. Darhius Nunn and Theo Brown added 13 markers apiece.
Taiwo Brown scored a game-high 24 points for UVA-Wise (5-6), which also got 13 points from Yesid-Mosquera-Perea and 10 from Tajh Eason.
Marshall 93, Toledo 87
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Jon Elmore scored 25 points, Ajdin Penava added 24 more and Marshall rallied late in the second half to slip past Toledo for a 93-87 win Saturday night.
Trailing by eight with three minutes to play, Marshall (7-3) erased the deficit with 14 unanswered points, edging back on top with 45 seconds to go when C.J. Burks got a steal and slammed in the go-ahead dunk to make it 89-87. Elmore then sank a pair of free throws and Penava got his fourth block of the night at the other end to set up Dani Koljanin’s dunk to seal it.
Toledo, which led most of the second half, was held scoreless over the final 2:55, missing six straight shots.
Burks and Jarrod West had 12 points apiece for Marshall, which shot 50 percent from the field to pick up is first win in Toledo since 2000.
Tre’Shaun Fletcher made 15 of 16 free throws and scored a career-high 31 points to lead Toledo (5-4), while Luke Knapke added 18 points to go with 11 rebounds and Jaelan Sanford scored 13.
