BOYS BASKETBALL

Ravenswood 92, Magnolia 56

RAVENSWOOD — Third-ranked Class A Ravenswood finished off a 20-2 regular season on Wednesday night by blowing out visiting Magnolia, 92-56.

Tyler Williamson canned seven 3s en route to a game-high 33 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough for the 7-15 Blue Eagles, who also received 12 points from Jake Fruner as well as seven points, two steals and two assists from Leo Herrick.

Ravenswood not only shot 60 percent for the tilt (35 of 58), but the hosts knocked down 13 of 23 from downtown with Jayden Rhodes leading the way. Rhodes also connected on seven triples and scored 29 points to go along with six boards and five assists.

Riley Heatherington (26 points, nine caroms, five assists), Isaiah Morgan (15 points, seven rebounds) and Stephen Dawson (14 points, eight rebounds) also had big nights for the Red Devils, who got a game-high eight assists from Hayden Mandrake.

Magnolia will play Paden City in sectional action on Tuesday in either Kidwell or Ellenboro. Ravenswood plays host to Monday’s sectional winner between Wahama and Calhoun County at 7 p.m. Wednesday in “The Pit”.

Gilmer County 68, South Harrison 33

GLENVILLE — Senior night went just as planned here Wednesday for Class A, No. 6 Gilmer County as the Titans outscored South Harrison in every quarter en route to a 68-33 victory.

The 19-3 Titans honored Trey Shuff, Lukas Sirbaugh, Cole Haley, Carter Springer and Noah Aviles.

Shuff poured in a game-high 22 points while Springer added 15 and Aviles a dozen. Haley hit a pair of 3s while Sirbaugh also scored a bucket.

Camden Barnette had 14 points to lead the Hawks, who finished the regular season at 10-12.

Gilmer County will return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday with a home sectional tournament game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lewis 68, Roane 51

WESTON — Lewis County turned a 29-27 halftime lead into a 68-51 Class AA, Region II, Section 2 victory here Wednesday night against visiting Roane County.

LCHS, which got 24 points from Sarah Post and 22 markers from Alexis Rumbach, held a 17-1 edge in foul shots attempted through three quarters and finished the night 17 of 24 compared to the Raiders’ 6 of 7 showing.

Roane County received a game-high 33 points from junior Lucille Westfall, who added 11 rebounds and five blocks. Danielle Godbey chipped in nine markers for the Raiders, who concluded their season at 13-11.

Clay County 60, Nicholas County 30

SUMMERSVILLE — Sarah Boggs scored 18 points and Marissa Williams added 15 as Clay County defeated Nicholas County, 60-30, Wednesday to advance to the Class AA, Region II, Section 2 championship game Friday at Lewis County.

The visitors outscored Nicholas 20-6 in the opening period and later took a 49-26 lead into the final period.

Anna Hamilton paced the hosts with 13 points.

Clay, which improved to 13-11 overall, received 11 rebounds from MaKayla Horrocks and seven from Boggs.
