GIRLS BASKETBALL

Ravenswood 76, Braxton 45

RAVENSWOOD — Braxton County got outscored 22-6 after the opening eight minutes and never got back into the game here Thursday as host Ravenswood rolled to a 76-45 victory and in the process claimed seventh in the LKC.

Claudia Cubides led all point-producers with 20. Ali Westenhaver had another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Haylie Reynolds added 17 points and Kayla Liptrap 10 for the Red Devils.

Hollis Skidmore’s 15 markers led the Eagles.


Wirt 58, Doddridge 45

ELIZABETH — After a winless season a year ago, Wirt County collected its fifth win of the campaign on Thursday as the host Tigers knocked off Doddridge County, 58-45, to finish 13th in the LKC.

The Tigers led 28-16 at intermission and received a game-high 21 points from Cori Hughes. Taylor Anderson added a baker’s dozen for the Tigers, who also got nine points from Caitlin Cottrell, eight by Sarah Cunningham and seven from Loden Campbell.

DCHS, which closed the gap to 40-32 entering the fourth, was led by Cameron Smith’s 15 points. Corrinna Fulmer chipped in nine and Charley Stinespring had seven.


BOYS BASKETBALL

Calhoun 65, Clay 64

CLAY — Trevor Carder hit the game-winning jumper with less than a second to play here Thursday to help lift Calhoun County to a 65-64 road win at Clay County.

Zack Yanero led the Red Devils (2-15) with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Carder finished with 14 points while Dylan Heiney chipped in 10 points, four assists and three steals for the victors.

Clay County (2-15) was paced in scoring by Isaac Workman with 21 and Ryan Burdette with 14.


Wood County Christian 45, Wirt County 38

WILLIAMSTOWN — Wood County Christian received 12 points from Luke Spencer and 11 more from DJ Spencer here Thursday en route to handing visiting Wirt County a 45-38 setback.

Luke Spencer gradded 14 boards to finish with a double-double while teammate Garrett Napier pitched in nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Drew Adams (12) and TJ Conley (10) cracked double figures for the Tigers.
