BOYS BASKETBALL

Meadowbrook 82, Parkersburg South 48

BYESVILLE, Ohio — Parkersburg South couldn’t keep up with Meadowbook Tuesday night, losing 82-48 to fall to 7-7 on the year.

The Patriots trailed just 14-10 after a quarter but the Colts (15-2) ran away in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach.

Meadowbrook had four players reach double figures — Parker Black with 21, Trey Singleton with 16 and Justin Cork and Logan Wolverton with 15 apiece.

Alex Woolard led South, which visits Wheeling park Friday, with 13 points. Seth Fallon and Cole Plants added 11 and nine points, respectively.


Doddridge 59, Braxton 51

WEST UNION — Junior Chase Dunaway threw down his first dunk of the year and Doddridge County rallied from a 28-25 halftime deficit to knock off Braxton County, 59-51.

Last Thursday, the Bulldogs (11-7) lost at Braxton County (7-9) by eight points, 53-45.

Dunaway finished with a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. Hunter Riffle added 11 points, eight assists and seven steals while Bulldog Matt Kerns chipped in 10 markers.

Tayton Stout’s game-high 25 points led the Eagles.

DCHS returns to action for a 7:30 p.m. varsity only affair on Friday in the WVHIT against East Hardy.


Magnolia 67, Paden City 63

PADEN CITY — Aaron Heasley scored a career-high 41 points for Paden City Tuesday night, but it wasn’t enough as visiting Magnolia escaped with a 67-63 win.

The Blue Eagles (6-9) had more balance with Leo Herrick (24 points), Tyler Williamson (16) and Brooks Parsons (14) all scoring in double figures.

For Paden City (8-8), Hayden Hizer posted 13 points, six rebounds and three assists to complement Heasley, who also grabbed 10 boards for a double-double.

The Wildcats took a 31-23 lead into halftime but were outscored 22-13 in the third quarter to lose the lead.


St. Marys 80, Tyler Consolidated 65

KIDWELL — St. Marys benefited from Sam Kincaid’s 28 points, Noah VanZile’s 16 and Will Billeter’s 12 points, 13 rebounds and six assists in an 80-65 win over Tyler Consolidated Tuesday night.

The Blue Devils (13-3) shot 52 percent (33 for 65) and outscored Tyler by six in the first quarter and eight in the fourth quarter to separate themselves.

The Silver Knights (5-12) were paced by Jace Reed’s 18 points. Also in double figures were Dylan Roberts with 13, Griffin Phillips with 11 and Quintin Richmond with 10.


Roane 62, Calhoun 47

MT. ZION — Calhoun County’s Zack Yanero picked up foul No. 3 early in the second quarter and after Dylan Heiney was called for his third foul with 2:13 left before intermission, visiting Roane County ended the half on an 11-2 run and eventually saddled the Red Devils with a 62-47 loss.

Kaleb Greathouse’s 18 points and 13 rebounds led the 10-6 Raiders, who got 12 points apiece from Brandon Morris and Brandon May.

The 1-14 Red Devils received 18 markers and 11 caroms from Yanero while Heiney had 10 points, four steals and two assists.


Waterford 61, Trimble 47

WATERFORD — Waterford, ranked ninth in Ohio Division IV, used an 18-1 third quarter to help post a 61-47 win here Tuesday against visiting Trimble in a Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division showdown.

The Wildcats (11-3, 11-0) were led by Travis Pottmeyer’s 19 points and nine boards.

Cody Harris scored a baker’s dozen, Isaac Huffman tossed in 10 markers and Jordan Welch contributed five points, and game-highs of 11 rebounds and six assists.

Trimble (10-6, 9-2) was led by Jacob Hardy’s 12 counters.


Fort Frye, 76, Caldwell 40

BEVERLY — Justin Anderson poured in a game-high 28 points Tuesday as host Fort Frye had no problem during a 76-40 Pioneer Valley Conference blowout of Caldwell.

The Cadets (14-3, 8-0) also received a double-double of 18 points and 10 boards from Jacob Prichard.

Casey Farnese had 11 points for the Redskins (9-10, 3-5), who also got eight points and a game-high 11 caroms from Dalton Ivey.


Warren 71, Cambridge 51

VINCENT — Kyler Dennis continued his hot shooting Tuesday night.

The Warren senior scored 26 points and was 8 for 10 from the 3-point line in a 71-51 victory over Cambridge.

Fellow Warriors Chase Weihl and Josh Huffman added 16 and 15 points, respectively. Warren improved to 15-2 on the year and will visit Parkersburg South Tuesday.

Cambridge (6-10) got a team-high 16 points from Connor Leppla and 13 more from Alex Masinelli.


Logan 64, Marietta 50

LOGAN, Ohio — Marietta struggled to get anything going in a 64-50 loss Tuesday at Logan.

The Tigers (8-8) were limited to 34 percent (18 for 53) from the floor and had only one player score in double figures — Zach Deskins with 16 points.

The Chieftains (7-10), on the other hand, shot 48 percent (19 for 39) with 18 points coming from Kory Henthorne and 16 more coming from Bo Myers. Caiden Landis also was in double figures with 10.

St. Marys 70, Tyler Consolidated 69 (OT)

KIDWELL — Jordan Fox, who scored a game-high 33 points, tallied the final two markers from the foul line and blocked Tyler Consolidated’s potential game-winning shot here Tuesday as No. 8 St. Marys nipped the host Silver Knights in overtime, 70-69.

The Blue Devils outscored the Silver Knights 11-10 in the overtime session to come away with the win.

Jenna Nichols, who finished with 10 assists while Fox grabbed a dozen boards, added 12 points for St. Marys.

Tyler (7-11) was led by Josey Jones’ 28 points, four steals and five assists. Peyton Kocher contributed 13 points and six assists, JoLee Walton added 12 points and Aleah Black chipped in 11 rebounds and five blocks.


Clay 64, Roane 49

SPENCER — Lucille Westfall poured in a game-high 30 points here Tuesday for host Roane County, but Clay County scored 26 of the first 30 points en route to posting a 64-49 triumph.

The Raiders, who trailed 15-4 after one and cut the 22-point deficit to as few as six in the second half, dropped to 8-8 and plays host tonight to Calhoun County.

Clay County (8-9) was led by Sarah Boggs 24 points. Marissa Williams added 11 for the Panthers.


Ripley 54, Capital 48

RIPLEY — Ripley received a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds from Lexi Miller here Tuesday as the Vikings split the regular season series with Capital following a 54-48 victory against the Cougars.

Capital was led by Alex Gray’s 12 points and Jana Faucett’s 11 points. Danjah Allen chipped in nine points and eight boards in the setback.
