BOXING: Echard’s fight declared no contest

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Parkersburg South graduate Dustin Echard’s attempt to claim the Ohio state cruiserweight boxing title as well as the junior cruiserweight North American Boxing Federation belt will have to wait for another day.

During his fight on Saturday night at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, the reigning West Virginia light-heavyweight champion had the bout stopped against opponent Brian “The Bull” Holstein because of a head butt.

The scheduled eight-rounder was halted in the third round after Echard accidentally head-butted Holstein, who ended up getting a cut. The fight was officially ruled a no contest.
