Rumble on the Hill tonight in Glenville

GLENVILLE – Glenville is definitely the place to be today.

While the new $27 million Waco Center had its ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday evening, tours will be given to the public for open house from 1-4 p.m. today during Glenville State College’s Alumni Day.

Later in the evening, the 16th annual Rumble on the Hill will take place inside the Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium.

More than a dozen bouts are scheduled on the card, which includes the professional middleweight full contact rules kickboxing main event between “Wild, Wild” Wes Hanson and Charlie Mullens. The fight is a scheduled four-rounder featuring two-minute rounds.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the first fight is slated to get underway at 7:30 p.m.

Kicking off the card is a girls lightweight amateur boxing match featuring Clarissa Shingleton of the Dawghouse Gym going up against Parkersburg’s Holly Watson.

Following that, former Roane County standout athlete Jackson Craddock will tangle with Parkersburg’s Gage Bonnette in an amateur middleweight boxing match.

Several of the matches will feature Glenville State College students and proceeds from the event, which is presented by Leon Ramsey’s Dawghouse Gym, will benefit the Pioneers’ football and athletics teams.

Other highlights of the card include a professional super middleweight four-round boxing showdown between Coty Pierson and Dwayne Molina. Parkersburg Toughman champion Dalton Burton is paired against Elkins and Clarksburg Toughman champ Dalton Linger in an amateur welterweight boxing match.

The other female bout on the card pits former toughman victors Haley Bishop and Amber Morgan.

General admission tickets are $12 at the door and ringside seats are available for $20 each.
