Placement games set for LKC NOC

PARKERSBURG-Placement games and the Night of Champions are set for the Little Kanawha Conference.

With Ravenswood losing to Roane County on Tuesday coupled with Williamstown’s victory against Gilmer County, the Yellowjackets moved into the Night of Champions’ third place game against Roane County and the Red Devils secured a spot at home against Clay County in tonight’s fifth place game.

North Division champion Parkersburg Catholic (11-0 North) punched its ticket into the title game on Monday night with a come-from-behind 67-63 victory over rival Ravenswood. The Crusaders’ opponent in the LKC title game will be Gilmer County, which ripped off 12 consecutive wins in the South.

Other matchups on Thursday-all games being played at the North Division sites – include Wirt County at St. Marys in the seventh place game; Calhoun County at Doddridge County in the ninth place game; South Harrison at Ritchie County in the 11th place game; and Braxton County at Tyler Consolidated in the 13th place game.

On Saturday for the Night of Champions at Roane County High School, gates open at 4 p.m. The Top Gun warm-up at 4:15 p.m. will be followed by the Top Gun competition at 4:30 p.m.

Tip-off for the third place game is set for 5:40 p.m., while the start of the championship game is scheduled for 8 p.m.

* WVHIT update: The West Virginia Hometown Invitational Tournament has rescheduled games which were postponed last week in Summersville.

The slate of games set for Saturday at Midland Trail High School begin with a noon start between Fayetteville and Pocahontas County followed by Tygarts Valley against Van at 1:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., Midland Trail hooks up with Sherman, while Meadow Bridge and Paden City meet for the Division 2 championship at 4:30 p.m.

The day concludes with the Division 1 championship between Valley Fayette and Clay-Battelle at 6 p.m.
