Stan Dodson slips at B.A.S.S. Nation Event

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – The second day of fishing on Lake Dardanelle didn’t go quite as planned for Stan Dodson of Mineral Wells here Friday at the 2013 B.A.S.S. Nation Championship.

Dodson was only able to catch three of his five bass limit and despite sitting in 14th place of 56 anglers he’s got some work to do in order to climb back up the Northern Division standings, which he has to top after today’s final round in order to qualify for next year’s Bassmaster Classic.

“It’s a longshot, but I’m up for it and I’m going to go fishing,” said Dodson, who noted a cold front came through Wednesday night that shifted winds and made the temperature about 15 degrees colder.

“It was hunt and peck all day. I’m going to start out in the same spot (on Saturday) and make a run up the creek. There’s a dam up there and it’s got some potential for some big fish.”

Mark Dove’s big Thursday of five bass for 15 pounds and 6 ounces put him in third overall and he tops the Northern Division with 23 total pounds. Dodson’s current two-day total is 19-8, but he also trails Nathan Gray (22-5) and Monty Fralick (21-10).
