PHS?crew finishes strong

The Parkersburg High School crew teams completed their 51st season of rowing at the Midwest Regional Championship on Lake Dillon in Zanesville, Ohio.

Except, that is for the Women’s Freshman 8 and the Men’s Junior Varsity 4 boats, who qualified for the SSRA National Rowing Championships in New Jersey.

Moving into a new permanent boat house made it an exciting year for graduating seniors, including Ashley Garrett and Sowji Mukkamala, both four-year rowers and women’s team co-captains along with Katlyn Bowman, Blake Walls and Emily Tingler. These graduating seniors also received varsity letter honors along with DeAudra Daniels, Kristin Staten, Rayann Yocum, Kyleigh Hawes, Katie Cooley and Allie Kramer.

Members of the men’s team awarded varsity letters include rowers Tristan Opel, Aaron Stavrakis, Christian Pickens, Alex Griffin, Nathan King, Joel Carty, Trystan Taylor, Sean Durnell, Gavin Lawson, Gage Lawson along with coxswains Madison Buck and Tori Harper.

Tristan Taylor (men’s) and DeAudra Daniels (women’s) won the hammer awards.
