PHS’s Haught in national mat finals
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A trio of area grapplers have earned All-American honors this weekend at the NHSCA wrestling nationals.
Parkersburg 182-pounder Jared Haught has won his first four matches and advanced to today’s senior national finals. At 2 p.m., the Virginia Tech-bound Haught will go for a national title against Georgia AAAAA state champion Brooks Climmons, who is ranked third nationally and will wrestle for the Air Force Academy.
In the sophomore division, Big Red Trapper Hays finished in the top eight to earn All-American honors as his 5-2 mark was good enough for seventh place at 132.
Calhoun County’s Cole Ritchie earned All-American accolades after his seventh place finish in the 138-pound freshman division.
Parkersburg’s Skyler Terrell (1-2 at 145) and Joey Butcher (0-2 at 106) also competed in the junior and senior divisions, respectively.
