BASEBALL

MARIETTA -In a battle of two of the top teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference, No. 6 Marietta College came away with a pair of victories 5-1 and 10-1 over Otterbein in a doubleheader at Don Schaly Stadium Wednesday.

The Pioneers and Cardinals came into the day first and fourth in the conference, respectively, separated by just two games in the standings.

MC is now 20-7 overall and 10-2 in the conference. After Baldwin-Wallace lost one out of two to Heidelberg Wednesday, Marietta takes over sole possession of first place in the OAC.

The Etta Express received two gems on the mound from Evan Brockmeier in game one and Mike Finlan in the night cap and took advantage of five Cardinal errors on the day.

Softball

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Trayla Liles, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Softball Hitter of the Week, continued her incredible display of power hitting with three more home runs in Marietta’s sweep of Otterbein University Wednesday.

The Pioneers (20-0 overall, 10-2 OAC) defeated the Cardinals (13-11, 3-7 OAC) by the scores of 9-1 and 10-2.

Liles went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and six RBI in the first game. The six runs batted in tied the school single game record. Liles homered in her first at bat of game two before receiving walks in her final three plate appearances.

In her last three games played, Liles is an amazing 8-for-9 with a double, six home runs and 12 runs batted in.
