Dates set for MOVJGA series

PARKERSBURG – Nine dates have been set for the Mid-Ohio Valley Junior Golf Association summer series for 2013.

These golf tournaments are conducted at area public courses and have no sponsors, therefore they are self-administered by the staff at each course. It is the public courses’ hope that by providing these events they will encourage youth participation in the game of golf.

Each event has three age groups or divisions and each event will receive plaques and be awarded points based on top 10 finishes. There will be two college scholarships awarded to the top two players in the 16-18 age group ($1,000 for first place and $500 for second place) and plaques awarded to the winners of the 12-under and 13-15 age groups.

A $20 registration fee is required to participate in these events and each event costs $20 to play for the 13-15 and 16-18 age groups (who play 18 holes). The youngest age group of 12-under plays nine holes. The fee for 12-under is $15.

A light lunch and drink is served at each event after their round is complete.

The schedule of events is as follows (each date begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with the exception of Lakeside and Oxbow, which both start at 8 a.m.): Lakeside Golf Course on Tuesday, June 25; Worthington Golf Course on Thursday, June 27; St. Marys Golf Course on Friday, June 28; Mingo Bottom Golf Course on Tuesday, July 2; Golf Club of West Virginia on Wednesday, July 3; North Bend on Thursday, July 11; Oxbow Golf and Country Club on Friday, July 12; South Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, July 16; and Woodridge Golf Course on Friday, July 19.
