Big Atlantic Classic

Parkersburg South 68,

George Washington 43

BECKLEY -Parkersburg South won the Big Atlantic Classic championship here Saturday night, blasting George Washington, 68-43.

Keya Bartlett led the Patriots (11-6) with 21 points while Taryn McCutcheon added 14 and Anna Hayton 12.

GW (12-5) got 15 points from Kelly Harrison and 11 from Rachel Ward.

South took a 17-6 first quarter lead and stretched it to 34-13 at halftime.

The Patriots host Linsly on Monday.

Parkersburg 68, Princeton 54

PARKERSBURG -Parkersburg High’s girls basketball team posted its most impressive win of the season Saturday night at Memorial Fieldhouse as the Big Reds downed fifth-ranked Princeton, 68-54.

PHS (11-8) was led by Haley Ackerman with 20 points while Imani Ward and Kennedy Walker added 16 points apiece.

Princeton got 25 points from McKenzie Akers.

Parkersburg jumped out to a 20-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

The Big Reds entertain Point Pleasant on Monday.

Marietta 58, Dover 56

MARIETTA -The Marietta girls improved to 8-2 in the ECOL here Saturday with a well-earned 58-56 win over visiting Dover.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Erica Dawson who scored 25 points and pulled down 8 boards. The Tigers trailed at halftime, going into the locker room down 35-26 but held visiting Dover to just 21 points in the second half and pulled ahead to for good in the middle of the third quarter.

Mariah Monaco lead the way for Dover scoring 23 points, pulling down 7 rebounds and swiping the rock twice. Next up for the Tigers will be a trip to Riverview on Wednesday.

BOYS

Tyler Consolidated 77, Ravenswood 67

KIDWELL -Dylan Romine exploded for 27 points and the host Silver Knights (7-9) powered past visiting Ravenswood (4-11), 77-67 here Saturday afternoon.

Joining Romine in the twenty-point trio was Heath Burgess (25) and Jake Martin (26), both Red Devils. Tyler took a commanding twenty-point lead into halftime, 45-25. The Red Devils were able to cut the lead to ten in the second-half but were unable to close the margin anymore.

Martin along with his 26 points, grabbed 12 boards to record the only double-double of the game. Tyler will look to began a winning streak when they face Doddridge County Monday, while Ravenswood travels to St. Marys Tuesday.

Ritchie County 70,

Doddridge County 55

ELLENBORO -Andrew Davis scored 25 points for the home team and Ritchie County rolled to a 70-55 victory here on Saturday afternoon.

Ritchie County managed to snag a 9 point lead heading into the locker room, 37-28 and never relinquished the lead rest of the game. Davis finished the game with a double-double after pulling down a game-high 14 boards to go with his 25 points. The Rebels improve to 3-11 on the season while the Bulldogs fall to the identical record.

Leading the way for the Rebels was TJ Baldwin for with 15 points.
