Executive Orders: Good, bad or depends?

In recent months there have been a lot of discussion about the President and his use of Executive Orders. The question is, are Executive Orders a good thing or bad? If one party within Congress is hindering government so badly, is the President correct to use the Executive Order to go around them?

kendall78...the history of Gitmo is an interesting read and is a heck of a deal for the United States. the prison itself is a recent creation compared to the overall history. shutting down the prison IMO is largely symbolic, as we will still continue to operate off-shore black sites as needed. considering the need to update the way in which we handle "enemies of the state", most americans need to get over the fact that no matter how humanely we treat our adversaries, it is foolish to think they would automatically reciprocate. either way the "enemy combatants" and their supporters will continue to propogandize its existence or demise.

Let's keep in mind that when they say they want to close Gitmo, they mean to shut down the part where we keep ppl without giving them a trial. Most Americans probably don't know the history of Gitmo to begin with.

Is there any credence that can be given to the possibility that Obama's new found affinity for our relationship with Cuba may be based upon his desire to dispose of Guantanamo by giving the property back to Cuba? I understand he freed a few more detainees this past week. Think about how difficult it would be for the US to reestablish such an offshore installation, if we needed one in the future. There's something about Guantanamo that really grinds on Obama's belief system. Maybe he IS a Muslim.

Ill tell ya what Munster, I have a deal for you. You assert I am a serial lair that claimed to be a member of a Canadian local and a New England Local is that right?

Lets do this, well pick a judge lets say Greek or Mod and you present your case that I claimed to be a member of those or ANY local for that matter. After you present your case, I will present mine. NOW if the judge decides I lied I will leave this forum and never post again. HOWEVER if you fail to prove your claim YOU WILL LEAVE and never return under ANY NAME. DEAL?????

Yep, some are molting. I have a gentle rooster, but he has some age to him. I have a juvenile, that I would like to introduce to the flock, but I don't want it injured.
