with the state crying poormouth and an anticipated shortfall of over $40 Million up to $400 Million (depends on the reporter); the state is still considering home rule for another 15 cities. why is this bad now? because the state wants to raise taxes at the state level (since it is afraid to collect what is due), so raise on those who do pay. yet, give a loose cannon to the cities involved with an additional 1% in sales tax that will generate millions more from the public. why not try something different and CUT spending; curtail raises and benefit increases; have state, county and city employees pay a fair or more fair share for their health coverage. in Vienna, the employees pay about 0% up to a whopping 10%. this comes to about $196 for a family plan; 0 for an individual plan. the taxpayers are currently paying up about $1800/ month for each other than individual plan. Do you have insurance and if so what is your cost?
