There are many people I respect on here, so it seems very odd to me when they go so off base with critiques on their own writings.
I don't think Obama is a person of any faith whatsoever, as most politicians. Often times, they use religion to pander as we cling to our Gods and Guns.
Sorry for the double posts. The mouse is having issues today.
Obama once referred to his MUSLIM faith until Stephonoplis corrected him. I don't think it was anything but a slip of the tongue but he did say it
@Harry..I agree fully to your statement.
How do I discern what religion a person belongs? If a person says they are christian, I tend to believe them until there is enough evidence to show otherwise.
Obama has said, "I am a Christian. So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith."
To be fair, you are being hypocritical by criticizing him for making a statement that he had no proof of when you have no proof either. You could have addressed his lack of proof, but you blew it when you made a declarative statement that you had no proof of
I have no problem with the government redistributing some of my wealth to the needy.
However, I do have a problem with the government taking my money and redistributing to those who aren't needy, and even to wealthy corporations.
I don't think government takes care of the needy very efficiently. We should do it ourselves instead of leaving it to the government.
Well, to be fair..my comment was responding to the guy from Belpre who implied Obama leans on Islamic beliefs.
But, Obama does refer to his Christian faith before. In the end, there is so muc more evidence that Obama is more christian than muslim. There is no way around that.
So you have yet to tell me how you discern that Obama is a FOLLOWER of JESUS CHRIST
Communism would be a more accurate way of describing what you are talking about, however, when government coercion is involved, I have a huge problem with it
"In our household the Bible, the Koran, and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf alongside books of Greek and Norse and African mythology."
And what of it? I have the Bible, Torah, Greek Mythology, Fantasy, Albert Camus and other various books sharing space on my shelves but I'm a Christian.
It is NOT my definition that is the subject here, for it was not I that called Obama a follower of ANYONE. IT was you.
God may and will do as he pleases we are talking about GOVERMENT.
I am curious, what is the litmus test for being a Christian in your eyes?
Or is there any way to tell? If not...why do people care if a person is christian or muslim? They wouldn't be able to prove it any way.

Some people were even punished by not giving all they had to the cause. Most of us wouldn't think it is bad to keep something from the sale of a possession right? After all, it was yours and the money you get from its sale is yours right? However, Ananias and Sapphira did get punished, though it could be argued that they got punished for lying about how much they sold it for.
No I would not. I don't have a shred of proof for either case. To sit in a Christian church does not equate to being a follower of Jesus Christ, nor does having Muslim family make you a Muslim.
"he did not say it should be taken from them by the Roman Spear."
No he didn't but why would he? Jesus and Christianity stood apart from the official govt. However, the concept of the Church stood in the place of a govt entity in some cases. In the 4th chapter of Acts it is clear that members of the faith gave all they had to have the wealth redistributed among the other members.
As I said in my letter, I am not saying that the Bible is pro-socialism because socialism didn't exist as a concept then. But socialistic idea like distribution of wealth did exist.
