There are many people I respect on here, so it seems very odd to me when they go so off base with critiques on their own writings.
"Deficit-spending has been reduced by half since President Obama was inaugurated"
I don't even know why you brought this up since we were not talking about it. However...let's not fool ourselves. The deficit dropping is not all thanks to Obama. Businesses and individuals are paying more taxes. Low rates at the Federal Reserve also has helped. Also automatic spending cuts happened..not due to Obama's great leadership but the utter foolishness of Congress not getting anything done.
The truth is, the deficit will go up. Obama cannot stop it and this isn't a slight on him. It's just facts. The baby boomers will continue to retire at a higher rate and there is nothing he can do to stop that from happening.
My blank post says the same thing as oneill's. That would be NOTHING.
Did the N and S change their number of letters allowed to he published just for Oneill? He is the only blowhard I know who would want to fill up space with more socialist propaganda.
He calls people nasty names then twists it around and blames them for his own dastardly deeds. And he even blames Bush for obama's website disaster. Now that's funny.
"Obama is just another pig that is running our farm into the ground."
Yep..no different from Congress or any other career politicians. I still stand by that.
let's hit you with a fact: "In 13 States Plus D.C., Obamacare Will Increase Health Premiums By 24%, On Average"
Who says this? A far right tea party group? Nope, Forbes. Though who cares what happens to those states when Ohio should see a 30% decrease on average.
"The ACA was passed by both houses of Congress and declared to be "constitutional" by the SCOTUS."
One of the first true blue facts you have offered up yet. Yes, it is law and I have always believed that it should be implemented from the get go. Let the errors and problems rise up...then fix them.
Obama however opened himself up to scrutiny when he gave businesses extra time but refused to do so for the everyday person. When the Republicans asked for more time, was that such a hard thing for the Pres to approve of? To be honest, I think he was just being stubborn. Nothing would have been really lost if he would have extended the deadline to get signed up.
"Your silly attempt to "turn" the "Animal Farm" metaphor against Obama doesn't work ... Once again, the President has not acted like Orwell's "pigs" in attempting to undermine the law"
You keep saying undermine when the pigs didn't do that in Animals Farm. They manipulated the law to suit their needs. Obama and his ppl did that by giving extra time to businesses but not the everyday people.
Obama has his own squealers that blame the opposition for everything. Obama has his very own "Snowball" in Bush to act as a scapegoat. Heck, one could also say that Obama has his own pack of snapping and yapping dogs in the media that will tear apart the opposition (like the Tea Party) with more lies than facts.
Sorry Fred but Obama and his administration has enough of the traits to be compared to the villains of Animal Farm.
"Note also that the problem with the website has been created by a Canadian IT firm that was originally hired by the Bush administration"
Fred, are you grabbing hold of the scapegoat Snowball again? One cannot blame Bush for the glitches in the system.
Obama's people chose to use this IT group. Therefor, the blame rests on them and not a Administration that hasn't been in power for over five years.
"The very FACT that the President was re-elected by a sizable margin suggests that public opposition to what you call "Obamacare" is overblown."
I think it is you who are confused over what got Obama elected. You claimed that America's approval of Obamacare is what got Obama elected. You were dead wrong.
From the start I said that the reasons for Obama getting elected had little to do with Obamacare. There were so many other issues that meant so much more.
"The fact that you persist in quibbling about terms like "nigh".."
Odd, you did not think it was quibbling when you have the desire to point out when you think you are misquoted. I think you are being a bit of a hypocrite here Fred.
@Tiredofit- Well, I don't think of him as a socialist. Left leaning...yeah but not a socialist.
And besides, it seems to give him purpose. Look at all he has written.
Fred, you wrote two letters in a month and offer no facts whatsoever. I am sorry that you cannot accept that reality.
If you want to have a nigh fanatical dislike for the Right...ok, whatever floats your boat. But if you are wrong, expect to be called out on it. If you cannot defend your position, perhaps you need to sit back and rethink your world a little.
And also, please try to refrain from such obvious ad hominems as you have the past week.
2. You state, "Kendall's silly complaint about my use of George Orwell's "Animal Farm" suggests he believes Orwell's works somehow "belong" only to far right tea party extremists."
Where did I ever say or imply that? I took your use of Animal Farm and simply applied it to the President. Never did I say or implied that no one else could. Though by your actions it would seem you don't want anyone else to use it.
"When confronted with facts.."
What facts? 1. You state, "If (as the ideologues claim) "a majority of Americans hate Obamacare," why isn't Mitt Romney president?"
But you have offered no facts to support this position. Show me a poll that puts Obamacare up at the top of why people didn't vote for Romney. I couldn't find one and I doubt you ever looked.
"so why waste your time (and mine) with silly quibbling and semantic games?"
Because when you are wrong...you are wrong Fred. It's only a "game" when you feel slighted.
You still offer NOTHING that should change my perspective on the President in this case or that the last election was a confirmation of America's approval of Obamacare.
"but YOU chose to twist my comments to call the President a "pig" in the personal sense"
And you would be incorrect in that.
"If you have read Orwell's "Animal Farm", you would know that the "pigs" in that story are the ones who take existing rules ("all animals are created equal") and twist them to give themselves an advantage over the other animals."
Sounds like Obama to me. Though as I said over at the Marietta Times...it sounds like all of them. Please try to pay attention Fred.
"(he IS the President, Kendall, so you might as well accept the fact)"
Fred, I have this odd feeling you think I am someone else. I have never denied he is President. And if in fact you have read anything of mine as you claim, you will see that I have defended the man before.
"Again, I did not claim that the President (he IS the President, Kendall, so you might as well accept the fact) is "infallible". You said that I did & therefore misrepresented my words.."
You continue to misquote me. Let me educate you..what I said was, "Since when did a person winning a presidential election translate to being nigh infallible?"
Notice the "nigh". Again..do you know what that means?
Normally I do not have a big problem with Fred's letters. I was mostly shocked by Fred's odd interpretation of what the last election meant.
Again, there are more facts that support that issues like immigration, gender issues and other social issues were the main sticking point for why people voted for Obama instead of Romney.
I do not know why Fred is so upset about me using Animal Farm and applying it to Obama. I think I did a good job with it. Only someone that is ignorant in the story of Animal Farm would have thought I was calling Obama a literal pig and not a figurative one based on the book.
I am sorry Fred, you have been way off base in this whole situation. I would seriously take some time and reflect on the real reasons you did not liked to be critiqued.
