What's a poor person who loves working supposed to do?

...when the Democrats try to make not working pay, while the Republicans try to make working not pay.

There should be NO minimum wage. The market should decide the prevailing wage. When Govt gets involved you have a distortion of the market, this is what gave us the housing bust.

You miss the point once again. Take walmart for instance. The employees also may shop there. If they raise the wage to 20 dollars per hour, the employees would have much more cash to spend that is true. However, to maintain the profit margin, Walmart would have to raise prices and cut jobs. Hence fewer jobs, and everyone pays a higher price. Redistributive socialism Harry.

There is currently redistribution from the taxpayer to the consumer.

I'd like to see government benefits cut and wages increased.

Under the current system, where many low-wage employees rely on government benefits, the so-called rich taxpayer subsidizes these jobs. I say the consumers of the goods and services these employees produce should pick up the tab.

And if there is no demand, maybe there should be no supply.

So in effect you for nothing. Everyone pays more hence a form of redistribution

Sure it does, but the price of goods goes up in direct proportion

"Harry, raising the minimum wage only increases unemployment and raises prices."

Every time I get a raise, it puts money at my disposal.

Harry, raising the minimum wage only increases unemployment and raises prices. Neither good for those they are trying to help

My initial post wasn't literally accurate. Sorry. I should rephrase it to, "Democrats try to make not working pay more and Republicans try to make working pay less."

When Republicans work to keep the minimum wage down, they are trying to make work pay less. Meanwhile, Democrats work to raise unemployment benefits. The two policies, in effect, provide financial incentive for not working.

The poor in this country are amongt the richest people worldwide. I know of very few poor people that don't have all the food they can eat, cable tv cell phone heat and ac. We don't know what poor is, our grandparents knew, but we don't.
