Sounds familiar doesnt it Member CommentsmythravereYou know this is something that always kind of irked me. The printing of money. We all know the issues of counterfeiters printing money and what it can do to the economy. Look at what the Nazis did to England in WW2. There was so much fake money in circulation they had to make new money that was different to make it right. That being said. How is the government or treasury printing up boat loads of new money any different than the damage a counterfeiter can do? I think they spend because there is essentially nothing to stop them from printing the money to cover it. Or rather send the bill on down the road. Thats my take on it anyways. Even though I could be wrong. Posted 65 days ago. TiredofitIn a perfect world the federal govt could shut down and no one would notice. The State should have dominion over all things not enumerated in the constitution Posted 65 days ago. AaronSFar from it. When was the last time this nation has some semblance of spending restraint and what was that born of? Posted 65 days ago. harryanderson"My hope is that the two cannot agree and will shut down the government." Are you an anarchist? Posted 65 days ago. AaronSNeither party can govern. Republicans wanto to cut and spend while Democrat want to tax ad spend. My hope is that the two cannot agree and will shut down the government. Posted 65 days ago. TiredofitLeaders not so much as representatives. Or at least they should be. That's the problem, they a lot of them don't represent those who sent them there, but fall lock step with a party agenda. Posted 65 days ago. mythravereI've been sitting back and wondering when one party is going to come to its senses and put the nation before politics. Posted 65 days ago. mythravereThey are also leaders are they not? Sent their to govern this nation and make sure important business gets done. Not focus entirely on a cause that ultimately failed. Someone has to do the job right and try and get something done. There is lots to be done outside hot button issues. But then again everything becomes and issue. But I blame both sides for that. If not the Dems then why not the Republicans? Posted 65 days ago. TiredofitTwo quick points. First, Obama had the entire congress for two years. What did he do?. Second, whether you like it or not, those obstructionist republicans ran and were elected on a platform of stopping the Obama agenda. That is what they were sent to do by the electorate. Posted 65 days ago. mythravereIf the right would learn to live and let live I'd really have no issues with them. Their uncompromising principles wont let them do that. When I see people labeling other peoples beliefs in vile terms and making out as if they are some force bent on destruction I take issue with that. Same thing with the issue of religion. Everyone else and what they believe are free to keep it to themselves or leave this nation according to the right. While they want the ability to spread their beliefs as they see fit and use it to form this country as they want. In contradiction to the spirit of personal freedom that this nation was founded on. After all why would they say they want to take "their" nation back. That is implying that something that was exclusively yours was taken from you and the person with it has no rightful claim to it. I am supposed to accept that? Posted 65 days ago. mythravereAaron if you look back to the beginning of Obama's presidency there was a goal put in place by the right. Mitch McConnell even admitted as much. That goal was to make Obama a one term president. A person or group of people can stand by their principles all they want. But when the very action of doing that hinders the proper running of this nation and sets up a environment that is caustic to the bonds that binds the people of this nation together. How are those actions supportable in any real sense? When the only way forward is to do as one side says and no way else. Why am I supposed to accept that? Posted 65 days ago. mythravereIthink do you know what type of person I am. Im the type(contrary to how I seem by my posts on here) that if we aren't getting along its nothing that I have done. I dont go out of my to dislike people. Even people I dont like I try to maintain a level of friendliness with them. I simply react to what I feel is being directed my way or has the ability to effect me. Posted 65 days ago. AaronSCongress is but a part of the problem and is divided which begs the question as to which chamber bears blame? The Republican controlled House labeled as obstructionist because they stand by their convictions and will not abandon their beliefs to appease the President or the Democratic controlled Senate who hasn’t addressed the budget in over 3 years? Posted 65 days ago. IthinkMyth, you do this all the time. You write a whole post about how bad republicans are. And then you say this "It also doesn't help when people with dissimilar views are looked down upon in hateful ways." Who is looking down upon whom ????? Posted 65 days ago. mythravereSince Congress does nothing I say we cut their pay. Tighten up public assistance so that only those that really need it get it. Make proper expenditures on defense. But some things we have to have spending on is infrastructure. There are things in that category that need fixing badly. Posted 65 days ago. AaronS"You can't solve a problem until you recognize it." In 2001 our revenue and expenditures were in the neighborhood of $1.9 trillion dollars. Since then, revenues have increased to roughly $2.7 trillion, an increase of ~40% while spending has doubled to $3.8 trillion. With the recent Obama tax increases on all Americans, 2013 will record revenues for the 3rd time in the last 7 years. Yes, we have a problem but Washington refuses to admit what it is. Instead of admitting to the excessive spending that this country has become, Washington instead chooses to insist on waging a war on the other party in a vain attempt to prove their side right and win the ‘fight.’ It’s time that we end this charade of leadership that is coming from both parties and get to fixing what ails us all. It’s time we elect a Calvin Coolidge type leader, impose some austerity on America and stop spending 5 generations of our children’s future. Posted 66 days ago. TinfoilhatI'll list my sources on the climate change issue, even though it has nothing to do with the topic as usual. TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING AND THE TEMPERATURES ARE WELL BELOW NORMAL! Stick your head out a window, you don't need to look at a computer screen to see what is really going on. Now, stick to the forum topics and stop diluting them with your diatribe. Posted 66 days ago. mythravereI do have a problem with the current crop of Republicans. So much of how they go about their business goes against what I believe. When it comes to who I feel more comfortable in running this country I unequivocally distrust the right. I agree with some of what they have to say. But because I dont trust them I cant support them. I have similar misgivings about the left but less so. One of the big issues is personal freedom and honestly supporting it. The right more often than not takes a hypocritical approach to that issue. It also doesn't help when people with dissimilar views are looked down upon in hateful ways. I dont see the left talking up this story that the right is without question and with extreme malice out to destroy this nation. That wears on you and breeds loads of resentment and anger. Posted 66 days ago. mythravereHarry put it very well. Because that is how I look at it. As an engineering issue so to speak. Tiredofit why dont you list your sources on the climate change issue. The reason I say that is that some of the things you have said are taken from the denial playbook. Posted 66 days ago. harryandersonMany people see this as a "right-left" issue because many of the proposed solutions involve redistribution of wealth. I would rather think of it as an engineering problem. Unfortunately, the left-right politics have blinded some powerful people, and they deny that there is a problem. You can't solve a problem until you recognize it. But they will wind up admitting it eventually. Politics can't overturn the laws physics. Posted 66 days ago. Post a Comment |
