Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

Not worried at all about an asteroid. Especially one that is gonna pack a 2500 megaton wallop.

If it happens and I don't die in the initial hit I'll put a bullet in my head.

Then again. It might be cool to go outside and watch chunks of the earth reenter the atmosphere...before you die anyways.

Fools and little children tend to take serious things and poke fun at them. Mostly because they don't understand them.

For example on the way home from work today I was think about the asphalt that was used to pave the road.

What would take the place of the bitumen used to make the roads if it weren't available.

Sure we could use concrete. But concrete doesn't lend itself well to roads that are dynamic in their course. Concrete roadways aren't as easily repaired as an asphalt road either.

So that in itself is a reason to conserve the resource its derived from.

Aaah finally some constructive skepticism.

Luvthesouth I pretty much agree with what you say.

I often think that we should just let the climate change and try and adapt to what we end up with.

Also I am doubtful we can reverse what we have done without seriously damaging the world economy. Its just that as much as I like renewable resources I don't see them taking over any time soon.

I think the best thing we can do right now is try and become as efficient as possible. That will lead to the use of less carbon based energy by itself.

It also saves those resources because they are just as crucial in other ways as much as they are for their energy uses.

mythravere good afternoon...is it not a means of having the goldilocks and the three bears scenario? too warm, too cool, ahh...just right. my statement is based on proportionality. should we remove the ingredients that have artificailly warmed the planet, how so will the effect be should we reverse the effect. will we be pleased with the result? i agree that we should not destroy our planet and should preserve it the best we can, however we must also be open to the real notion that whatever we do will have a effect on the planet. consider the ebb and flow between the earths warming and cooling cycles when we had either any or no negliable effect on the planet. i support planting trees and reducing pollutants as much as we can. but i am also aware that we must be prepared for the opposite of our intended corrective actions....good or bad.

Now there has always been a component of co2 in the atmosphere. I guess theoretically if we had some means of completely removing co2 from the atmosphere we could cool the planet.

But we'd also potentially kill off all life on this planet doing so.

For arguments sake lets say that we could tomorrow reduce the co2 in the atmosphere to levels that would be expected if all fossils fuels were still in the ground.

The temps could only go down as low as the climate would allow. The climate being determined by all the natural phenomenon that has a hand in either heating or cooling this planet.

Take for example the sun.

And the natural events responsible for say ice ages or inter glacial periods.

oh absolutely not moderation...i am indeed very serious. if we do have the culmulative effect on climate warming, it is not just as probable that we may have the same only observed as a climate cooling effect? especially when you consider that we are in the middle of an ice age right now. from NOVA: "We are still in the midst of the third major cooling period that began around 3 million years ago."

Too successful, lts? Surely,you jest.

moderation, how will we deal with the possibility of the reverse should we be too successful...possibly trade and cap instead of cap and trade?

There is a letter to the Marietta Times editor, written by George Banzinger, that presents some enlightening facts about global warming. And, I must add, undeniable facts.

Oh no.

Not the Grammar Police again.

As much as he or she uses the word "imbecile," Thatsabsurd would save a lot of time if they would only develop a keyboard shortcut for it.

Hey did ya see? We got a genuine scienteest from Ritchie Country working in the artic..oh..sorry arctic.

Maybe we can hit him up for some insight into funding and all that eh?

I simple error on my part. The gist of which is decerable to anyone with half a brain.

Thatsabsurds post on the other hand seems like something out of the Ninth Configuration.

And a rather saggy one at that...unable to stand up by your own free will with an astounding lack of symmetry with your twin!

The composition of your post demonstrates the possibility of cognitive impairment...

Failure to comply with a simple request for information implies that you are simply talking out of your rear and have no facts of your own to offer.

That being said I must conclude that you sir are a tit!

I'm not doing my dissertation-- and you simply playing the "its not true" although you are fully aware they did it, is also similar to imbecile intellect

@myth- Truth and facts are threats to him.

I didn't see a threat at all. Just a simple and friendly challenge to come and find out the truth about something.

Anywho, if you still doubt who I say I am...stop down at BWW around 10:30. Otherwise, just accept who I say I am and apologize and all is good.
