Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

To add to what Kendell just wrote. Collating a series of data points(daily temperature readings etc)over a long period of time allows scientists to see in what ways the worlds climate is trending. And what the way its been trending is suggestive of a warming planet. And natural causes can not account for the vast majority of the rise in temperature. Its not just the temperature that is an indicator of a changing climate either. The chemical makeup of the air and oceans is changing also.

"So let me get this straight, if its cooler, that means nothing, but if its hotter, that is evidence of global warming? Do I have it?"

No. If the local temps are a little cooler or higher during a given day...it means nothing. Now if the temps were steadily higher or cooler for a long period of time, meaning in years, then that does matter.

And near record COLD temps? Ok. So those "cold" nights. I will be able to put a bucket of water outside and expect to see some ice in it in the morning right?

You know I am perfectly fine with how and why Harry believes what he does. I can live and let live. Its Harry's beliefs. They are his to choose.

"You aren't a scientist(neither am I but I do have an interest in science)."

From my own post BTW.

I have no socialist leftist agenda.

You are so politicized its not even funny.

Why do you even care to talk about an issue whose details you can't even honestly acknowledge?

I am open to the questions surrounding climate change. My opinion is influenced by the facts.

For you it doesn't matter what the facts are you'll disagree with and deny them till the sun stops shining just because your chosen political agenda DICTATES that is what you are supposed to do.

If you believe in climate change you lose your GOP membership.

How do I know? LOL! Just ask Harry!

HAhAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhAH!

You and fraudulent Harry deserve each other. Tell Myth how the world was created in 6 days Harry.

Myth you are not a climate scientist nor am I but you are blinded by your socialist leftist dogma. If it were 100 degrees you would take that as a sign of your religion of global warming and pontificate on how we should send more money to the govt to support more research on this phony issue. But sorry for you, its near RECORD COLD TEMPS here in July, yet you dismiss it. There are none so sad as those that REFUSE to see.

You aren't an expert(obvious)you have no real interest in the scientific method(even more obvious) so why even waste your time on the issue?

And dont even cry about what I have said. You were the one who got a burr in your bum and decided to be all snarky and whatnot.

Its sad that you can not separate the science from the politics.

But to take a page out of Fox's playbook. LOL!

You aren't a scientist(neither am I but I do have an interest in science).I can tell you have no real interest in science otherwise you wouldn't make some of the comments you have about the issue. So that being said why even talk about it?

Politics and the game of one-upmanship is why!

The Drama's you loves it! LOL!

No you are just bringing your political games into the discussion. After all anyone who knows anything climate science knows for a fact that local weather is no indication of anything other than the local weather. It has little to do with long term climate tendencies. Now when you average local weather patterns over long periods of time then you can get an idea of how the climate is behaving.

You mentioning record low temps brings what to this issue? Other than playing political games.

Lets tax carbon to pay for further research, gee why would the researchers want that?

Ill bet if the record temps were high instead of low, you warmists would be touting your socialists agenda

Methane Hydrate eruptions have happened in the past. Methane Hydrate eruptions may have lead to loss of ships and planes in the Bermuda Triangle. Plus I remember a gas release of some sort(not sure if hydrate was the cause)took down a drilling rig. Oh and part of the continental shelf in the north Atlantic has curious "holes" in it that could have been caused by methane hydrate eruptions.

The article Kunect links to takes issue with climate change making it likely for methane hydrate eruptions. Its not known if it will for sure and historically there is no records in scientific findings that shows high temperatures caused hydrate eruptions in the past.

Although Pete Rose struck out sometimes, he still got more hits than any other major leaguer.

You can't judge climate change by how cold or hot any given day or week is around your local area. You have to look at the big picture. Climate change is a global phenomenon that finds its cause also at a global level.

mythravere

Guess we all know where the cold went then since the north pole had a melt water lake/pond around it this past week!

Bet you didn't hear about that did you? And if you did. Why....no mention of it?:)
