Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

Some "republicans" deny anthropology despite tons of facts. How convenient to pick and chose when one believes science and when they don't.

There are two breeds of people on the right. Real conservatives like yourself. Which I have no problem with. The other one is republicans. The republicans dont give a rats butt about the facts. That is to whom I was referring.

A return to problem solving traditions would be greatly welcome. For the most part neither party is level headed at this point in time.

I'm sick of the centintion. I'm sick of everything becoming an issue. But thats what you get when you got billionaires and big business jerking the chains of the politicians.

Climate change to me is a non political issue. Sadly it can't be discussed without politics being brought into the conversation.

Mythravere, most conservatives and Republicans are quite level-headed and rational. Check out my last post, where I reported that four Republican EPA Administrators wrote, “The costs of inaction are undeniable. The lines of scientific evidence grow only stronger and more numerous.”

And earlier I reported that a Republican Congressional aide wrote, “Someone in the GOP needs to say it: conservation is conservative; climate change is real; and conservatives need to lead on solutions because we have better answers than the other side.”

Yes, some seem guided mostly by fear and anger, but I believe that the majority of Republicans are returning to their problem-solving roots.

Don't judge the many by the few.

Ima betting that if say by some strange happening all the liberal folk of this world just disappeared. You guys would go looking for someone to fill the void left behind by the liberals.

The more I consider it the more I feel that you guys are addicted to the drama.

Aaah politics as usual. Thats the angle isn't it! Why dont you take your politically induced blinders off and just look at the facts.

If a liberal told you were about to sit down in bird chit you'd rather sit down in it obviously ignoring the warning the liberal gave just because a liberal told you.

And lol! If someone else came up and said yes you are about to sit in the bird poop you'd sneer at them and accuse them of having a socialistic agenda too.

Then splat! Drawers all dirty. But by god! You resisted the temptation of them dang dern socialists didn't you!

Yeehaw! REE PUBLICAN credentials innntact!!!!!!

Oh, possibly nothing if you think the cycles of solar storms and their documented effects upon our overall global climatic history has little to do with Al Gore's socialistic wet dreams.

KO CO2, say GOP EPA chiefs.

In a NYT op-ed, four former EPA administrators under Republican Presidents Nixon, Reagan, G.H.W. Bush, and G.W. Bush write,

“There is no longer any credible scientific debate about the basic facts: our world continues to warm, with the last decade the hottest in modern records, and the deep ocean warming faster than the earth’s atmosphere. Sea level is rising. Arctic Sea ice is melting years faster than projected.”

“The costs of inaction are undeniable. The lines of scientific evidence grow only stronger and more numerous. And the window of time remaining to act is growing smaller: delay could mean that warming becomes ‘locked in.’”

w ww.nytimes.c om/2013/08/02/opinion/a-republican-case-for-climate-action.html?smid=tw-share&_r=2&

Many Republicans agree “there is no longer any credible scientific debate about the basic facts.”

"can GOVT control the climate, errrrr no they cannot." Actually they might and I stress might be able to. It was after the Air Force I believe who published a study on "owning" the weather as a means fighting a war.

What must be considered is that if they did the sure as heck would not want you to know about it. Take the uproar over all the data mining and surveillance going on. If it came out that they had the capability of making target changes in the weather. The uproar would.....lets just say it'd be magnitudes of order larger than whats happening right now with the big brother angle.

of course climate change is happening, it has since the dawn of time take the ice age for instance, however the question is, can GOVT control the climate, errrrr no they cannot.

@Thats- even if every person in the world that reads the facts and arrives to the conclusion that climate change is happening would die today...that would not change the fact that climate change is happening. People believing or not believing in something doesn't change facts.

Shivering and sweating shape perceptions.

The U.M.-Muhlenberg study, referenced at the beginning of this thread, has conducted a new survey. On June 19, they reported:

“The percentage of Americans surveyed who think there is solid evidence of global warming remained at a majority, or 63 percent, in the spring. That's down from 67 percent surveyed last fall, which was the highest since 2008.”

"’The fairly cold winter and slow arriving spring weather this year appears to have contributed to a slight decline in the number of Americans that think global warming is happening,’ said Chris Borick, the survey's co-author and director of the Muhlenberg Institute.”

ns.umich.edu/new/releases/21541-some-americans-are-cooling-off-on-global-warming

Apparently, some Americans accept global warming science on the basis of whether or not they happen to be shivering or sweating when asked about it.

The oceans for example are becoming more acidic due to their increased absorption of the emissions that mankind is putting out.

Seasonal weather patterns are for lack of a better term "denormalizing".

Because I know you will say it. It is true the world was already warming up. We are in what is termed an interglacial period. But a good chunk of that warming can be laid at the feet of mankind.

You can't reintroduce billions of tons of carbon that was sequestered in the ground back into the atmosphere and not experience any effects from it.
