Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

"You can Google socialist countries yourself, it ain't hard."

Uh no! You mentioned socialist countries with miserable citizens.

Failure to list those countries that have citizens who you know are miserable because of socialism will mean you are lying.

Unless I missed it, I am guessing not much has changed in the debate and that Tired or Ithink have not yet produced any evidence that global warming/climate change is not being effected by mankind.

Good giref, it hasn't even been 24 hours since my last comment and it was 6 pages back. I know we all tend to do 1 or 2 sentence responses, but Tired...you might want to combine more of your points together so we don't have such a spread out conversation. I would also recommend that to R1K, but he thinks his pointless headlines serve a purpose.

BTW I don't really covet what others have. To be honest I don't need anything to make more happy. I've got all I need.

Some people don't have all they need though.

No wealthy person ruined my life. Though it might be nice to be paid just a little more. Not much mind you just a few more dollars an hour.

Now please list those socialist countries you mentioned.

I am off to work....time for some shrinkage lol!

"If your life is a living he77, how is that anyone's fault but yours? How did any wealthy person cause your problems?"

Lets say I was paid with food. My employer has a choice. Pay me with food that makes me healthy for myself and ultimately him when I bring myself to work. Or pay me with the bare minimum that keeps me alive and nothing else?

Its all about quality of life. The higher the quality the better off we all are. Even the people who staff the lower skilled jobs. If their life is bad where does that usually go. Substance abuse and all its social problems which often translates to crime which brings down the quality of life.

"There is no perfect system, however capitalism offfers opportunity"

It does. But capitalism can be as evil as some of the socialist countries we have seen if allowed to run its course unchecked.

Also I think it funny a god fearing Christian is worried about wealth.

Whats the bible say about living in this world but not of this world?

mythravere

All you have to do is list those countries and we will see how miserable those people are their wallowing in their socialist he11hole.

Once you answer that question then we will compare and contrast on where this nation is becoming like those countries. If anywhere at all.

I have a feeling we are about to see some more ignorance on your part.

mythravere

Here is where you are in serious error.

But a clarification first.

To what countries with socialist systems are you referring?

Posted 268 days ago.

mythravere

That being said I'll say this. Lets say that you are that capitalist at the top and I am a bottom feeder so to speak.

What's in it for me if the continued amassing of your wealth makes my life living he11?

You see the wealthy are small in number so it'd be in their best interest if the majority is allowed a little comfort and happiness at their expense.

Otherwise whats the point in the majority in allowing the system to continue as it is when it crushes so many.

There is a lot of points of consideration I left out. Just arguing the essential points here. Competition would insure wages wouldn't be rock bottom for example. But I think I made my point.

When you cry about wealth redistribution I wonder what I would be paid if a company wasn't forced to pay a minimum wage.

You can say that it would be up to me to better myself and make more money. That would be true. But there is only a finite amount of success available in a given populace. You only have the potential of so many top spots.

In your ideal system there would be two groups of people the successful and those left over with what's left. And in a capitalist system thats allowed to do as it wishes all of the wealth generated will invariable be concentrated toward the top.

I don't know about you but I don't want my worth determined by some person whose only concern is making themselves wealthier.

Again there is nothing wrong with being wealthy but given the human ability to flat out not care about their fellow man do we really want a system that essentially allows a person to set the price of someone else's worth?

Posted 268 days ago.

mythravere

The thing about social justice is that it allows people to have worth that in all honesty wouldn't be given to them by capitalists. After all what are capitalists after?

More wealth. Nothing wrong with that at all. But if given the ability to do what they wanted most of them wouldn't do much for those working under them. History shows that pretty well. I mean what gave rise to unions?

It wasn't because they were happy and paid well was it.

Tiredofit when you say things like that it makes me wonder.

In your perfect capitalistic world I wonder...what would my wages be...what hours would I work to earn those wages...would I be buying the goods I need from a company store...how safe would my work environment be?

So many questions.

On the flip side what if those rains became less frequent?

The problem with climate change is that it is going to cause our seasonal weather to go from what is known and expected to what isn't known.

Our seasonal weather around here may vary widely from year to year as climate change progresses.

Now I know you are going to use that blunt instrument you call a brain and say that I am saying that we will see winter weather in the summer etc. But thats not what I am saying.

Plants and animals have a narrow optimal band of what's livable in their respective environments. Going too far outside those boundaries will cause problems.

Posted 268 days ago.

mythravere

Tiredofit a person can not use specific words but can imply what those words define by how they word what they say.

As far as the weather goes its kind of hard not to mention weather in regards to how changes in climate is affecting the weather.

So far we have seen small changes to seasonal weather phenomenon. Summers getting hotter or milder weather in the winter. Later on we may see significant changes in what happens with the weather during a given season.

For example. What if the bread belt started getting significantly more rain during the growing season? That'd be a problem.

“I share Harrys view of creation and the bible.”

Since you share my view of the Bible, do you ever think about the Bible's words when you’re writing your hateful posts?

“Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”

“But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of*****fire.”

If a supreme being created all of this then I must say that being is one heck of an engineer.
