Thankfully, the anti-science propaganda campaign surrounding man-made climate change seems to have lost some of its effect.

Are you seeing storm clouds on the horizon? Two recent studies suggest that the latest anti-science campaign is following its forerunners--the propaganda campaigns attempting to refute science that tobacco causes cancer, that CFC's caused the hole in the ozone layer, and so on—into oblivion. Global warming denial seems to have climbed to a peak in 2010, and global warming acceptance is now climbing. This bodes well for rational public policy.

What a crock. They cannot predict next week's weather with any accuracy yet we have a mathematicaly challenged poster telling us how the world will be. And yes climate is a weather average.

Now far off into the future would be things like oceanic currents being upset by increasing amounts of fresh water getting into the oceans from melting icecaps.

The Gulf Stream affects the weather of Europe. It helps keep the UK warmer than it would normally be.

If that current would shut down do to a salinity difference in the oceanic conveyor then that would cause problems.

Thats a far off problem.

Truthfully when I used "pipe" it was the just the first thing I thought about when composing my post.

But now that you mention it I think that we will see as the world gets warmer our weather patterns will become more erratic from year to year.

One thing coming down the pipe is more precipitation. Since a warmer atmosphere causes more evaporation the atmosphere will become loaded with more moisture. Thats gotta come out somewhere.

Thats what I was talking about.

Why do you use "pipe" and not "pike"? Pike refers to something unknown away off in the future, while pipe refers to something already in the system about to emerge. Just wondering.

There is some truth to that. Look at hurricanes. I think scientists were banking on the storms becoming more numerous...but that didn't happen.

They know the world is warming up. They know the cause. And they know some of the effects of thats coming down the pipe of a warmer world.

What they don't know is how its going to go down in the near term.

Oh yea insert math based insult directed at me etc whatever who cares yada yada and all that.

Well since you can't/refuse to understand climate science I'm pretty sure you won't have any understanding on the implications of population density on human behavior.

Country people tend to be more honest? Morality is location dependent?????/ pulled that one puts your Arse didn't ya?

Posted 119 days ago.

mythravere

Well Doddridge isn't heavily populated and country folk tend to be more honest. So there's that.

The drilling companies probably had to have the roads repaved because the fracking trucks and drilling trucks tend to destroy the road.

Saw a stand like that in Doddridge county last summer while looking at the booming gas drilling. The stand wasn't attended and they had great prices. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The area farmers all seemed to have new tractors, probably from the drilling royalties. The drilling companies had paid to have the road repaved. It was nice to see a lot of people's lives enhanced by fracking.

Population is/will be an issue when and if we see prolonged droughts set up in the food growing regions of the world.

This country couldn't survive a prolonged period were food was scarce. We could biologically survive on a having less food available to us. Its the destabilizing effect on the population thats gonna be the kicker.

Sadly I feel there are more people who would turn to violence in the face of adversity than people who would work together and help each other out.

Case in point. My grandfather used to set out produce he had grown for sell alongside a main state road going out of town with a jar for the money that people would pay him with for the produce...unattended.

Try that today and see what happens.

Myth- specific to coastal flooding, population becomes an issue, when the resources are displaced.of course there are highly compressed populations, but there are many exceptions as well.

The climate does change, has changed, will change. I don't consider myself powerful enough to effect the change one way or another. When the earth decides it's too hot it will puke a few billion tons into the air and cool things off. People will either adapt or die. That has always been the way.

"the fact that the climate is NOT getting warmer."

You have evidence to this? Meaning, do you have evidence that global climate has been staying at a significant and unchanging rate for the last century?

Posted 120 days ago.

Tiredofit

LOL yea there is too much contention like the fact that the climate is NOT getting warmer. Geez you lemmings are .halarious

Posted 120 days ago.

mythravere

I myself see no real action coming on the issue of climate change because there is too much contention on the issue.

But actions will be taken once mother nature punches enough of the worlds population right in the face and then they will decide to act.

Posted 120 days ago.

mythravere

Actually overpopulation is THE issue.

Its the uncomfortable subject people would rather ignore.

And mother nature will make "corrections" when a growing population hits the limits of the environment they live in.

There are ways to avoid it..but that requires action and intelligence. Neither of which a large population has collectively.

It doesn't matter if its resource depletion or problems with climate change.

Nature which we are a part of will put you in check one way or another.

Once you extend yourself and your environment past the point of survivability only those with the means to survive the new paradigm will be left...everyone else will be dust.
