| Latest Post: Started By: Rank: Category There is no movement in the United States to kill people in the name of second amendment rights but there is a movement that has murdered 1,200,000 children in the name of women's rightsThe silver tongued talking heads on the magic living room box would have us believe that the country is in an uproar over the alleged murders of 26 people at an elementary school in Newtown, CT. An investigation is still pending. But the allegations are flying. Generally speaking, the anti-constitutionalists who don't own guns, have never fired guns and certainly have limited ability to identify them, would be willing to take away one of our most important constitutional right because they believe it would make them more "safe". None of the gun violence in America has been committed in the name of gun rights. Also, keep in mind, these anti-constitutionalists generally are of the same demographic that also believes that murdering 1,200,000 American children in 2012 in the name of women's rights is acceptable. Member CommentsIthinkcontinued....like Cyprus is trying to do. WE are forced to buy insurance we don't want An important lost liberty to buy what we choose. We have to get the government's permission to do almost anything to our own property. Sickening. I could write a book about our descent into the land of the oppressed. Race and slavery are great topics for the left. The truth is, no one living now in America was ever a slave, but we are all fast becoming the enslaved. Posted 62 days ago. IthinkThe earth gets hotter and cooler, dryer and wetter, always has, always will. It is not my fault. Why do you care anyhow? If we just conveniently evolved, it can happen again. I am more concerned with the freedoms and liberty we have lost and are losing. Anti-discrimination laws have become more intrusive and have reached into private groups and are even forcing religious organizations to conform to secular values. Tobacco laws become more controlling and ridiculous all the time. Freedom of speech is just a memory. It is a hate crime now to state your opinion about someone. Unless they are a white Christian, and then you can say anything derogatory that you want. If I have a spare bed room and need money badly, I have to rent it to someone whose behavior and sanitary habits, in my bed room, shortens their life expectancy, is not what I want there in my property. We are spied on, and monitored, in everything we do. We are headed for our money to be taken from us lik Posted 62 days ago. mythravereThe water level drop in Lake Mead is because the Colorado River is being fed by summer runoff less due to less snow fall in the Rockies. And I am sure you have seen the issues the south has faced with dropping water levels and drought conditions. To that I can add in the issue of water aquifer depletion in places like plains states. Like the Ogallala Aquifer. Posted 62 days ago. mythravereHere's a scenario to think about. Say that our annual precipitation becomes significantly less in our part of the country. Lets say that the Ohio Rivers watershed starts getting less water to support current river levels and they start to drop all along its length. Now being that there are large cities along the river north of us and they use it for their purposes. What they take out will add to the river levels loss. How could that effect us? Well for one thing a lower river will reduce the navigability of the river. Barges may not be able to be loaded out as much as now. Power plants may not be able to get as much water for cooling purposes. A lower Ohio would also effect the river level of the Mississippi. And Im sure you can guess the problems with that. All I am saying is that we'd better start thinking or we by our own political instituted complacency will get bit hard if things like I mentioned happen. I mean look a Lake Mead. The water level there has dropped. Posted 62 days ago. mythravereThe big point is that there is no denying that the planet is warming up for whatever reason. The cause doesn't matter. We need to focus on how to live with it. Thats what I think anyways. Our problem is that no one is talking about that. Someone has to bring that issue to the table or we may face serious trouble if weather patterns shift on us in a big way. Additionally with the all the extra Co2 in the atmosphere the ocean being a big scrubber of Co2 from the air is becoming more acidic. I think its obvious the repercussions if we see mass die offs in fish stocks. This is happening. There is no getting around it. Posted 62 days ago. mythravereCO2 isn't pollution. But we have altered the earths ability to capture it by deforestation. And I really dont understand why you think emissions would decrease due to the industrial revolution. We've cleaned up the soot and particulate emissions and other chemicals in emissions but very little CO2 is sequestered. The big problem is if and when the tundras in the north give up the gases that is locked up in them. When the plant matter in them begins to decay we are going to see a massive amount of methane get released. That is far a worse greenhouse gas than CO2. Not to mention the subsidence that will take place in those northern areas. Alaska is already experiencing that to some degree. Posted 62 days ago. TiredofitIf emisisions were the issue myth, don't you think we would have seen a reduction in supposed greenhouse gas since the industrial revolution? Great reductions have taken place in the last century or so. Even if it were a fact, any law passed would have little effect with India China and other burgeoning economies so far behind in emission controls. Posted 62 days ago. TiredofitMan caused climate change is a hoax perpetrated by those that wish to control. CO2 is not pollution. Posted 62 days ago. mythravereIt doesn't matter how much we reduce emissions if we don't have ways and means of dealing with shifting seasonal weather patterns and the effects that will have on our country. We need to be flexible in our thinking when it comes to climate change. We need to be prepared to act quickly so that potential disruptions can be dealt with quickly and efficiently. But that can't happen because we have the most do nothing government in our history. Posted 62 days ago. mythravereI should have added that we are in an inter-glacial period. The Ice Age never really ended. Its just receded. The recession is troublesome because of what can potentially happen when the northern Ocean is free of ice during the summer. The water will absorb a lot more energy. I predict that will seriously jack with the worlds weather patterns. But just so its clear here's what I feel we should do about it. I am not sure if limiting carbon emissions and all that is put forth with that is the way to go. To me there are two courses of action. Both will be expensive. One we can shift away from a carbon based economy. And two we can try to adapt to the changes that are coming. The first will only work if the whole world is acting with the same goal. Fat chance on that happening. The second one seems to be the one we need to focus on. Posted 62 days ago. R1KRA8ScottMc, it is your lie, twist it as you wish. The source was listed so anyone could easily look it up. You just hoped no one would look it up for its entirety. Why? “Fallacy of quoting out of context” Posted 63 days ago. R1KRA8Nice attempt at sneaky editing . . .
"Factor such as changes in the Earth's axis and orbit; tectonic plate shifting; volcanic matter explosions or meteoric impacts; and an increase in carbon dioxide emission from industrial pollution all contribute to changes in the Earth's climate."
(curiosity.discovery) Posted 63 days ago. R1KRA8“Are we currently living in an ice age?” “Answered by Science Channel” “Yes. An ice age is a period over tens of millions of years where the Earth is cold enough to produce permanent ice sheets.” (curiosity.discovery) Posted 63 days ago. mythravereI disagree with that. Because if we are at 4000 year average low then why have glaciers all across the planet and the northern ice cap melted off to historical lows? There are glaciers that were around when I was born that are totally gone now. That and scientists are noticing plants and animals moving northward along with an increased amount of plant growth in the northern latitudes. This planet is warmer now than it was say during WW2 and even farther back. Posted 63 days ago. TiredofitI have to work in the morning so I must take my leave.
